Sad that I can't finish endgame content with an account like this because of an mistake years ago 🤷♂️ and I barely remember that but there was a rumor once that AW matchmaking was influenced by the overall alliance rating so many people sold Champs back then... At least I think it was like that 🤷♂️

Those Crystals are mostly meant for New Players, but have some use for 1 piece of content for end-game players now. We are not going to change something that has a much larger effect on new players for this one piece of content, and are not going to make new crystals specifically for them either.
This is a marathon, not a race. Take your time, and you may be able to rebuild that 1-Star Roster over time, or can use the Units you get from many different areas of the game ever month for Free to purchase Crystals now if you don't want to purchase any/use the ones you have now.
