So recently kabam have been making some terrible decisions deal wise, giving out small amounts of very important resources for ridiculous amounts of money. But then it begs the question, what is the perfect deal and what makes a deal good/not good?
First of all we need to talk business, kabam needs to make money, preferably as much as possible, surely using that logic then they should make large, expensive deals? No. In a recent poll I created it showed that many of the f2p/casual spenders in this game would rather spend £10 or under and not a large amount of money. This makes sense right? I would much rather spend a small amount of money on an in-game deal then a large amount, with which I could buy something in the real world instead. So surely it makes sense for kabam to incorporate more £15 or under deals, as they are more enticing to those who do not spend normally. It is smarter for a buissness to sell to more people than less right?
So now we’ve established that the ‘perfect’ deal should be under £15, in order to entice a much larger audience, what about value? Another recurring theme in the comments of that same poll was the fact that the majority of players want garunteed value, catalysts and sig stones as opposed to crystals. This makes perfect sense, people want a deal that gives them actual value whichever way the wind may blow. Buying cavalier crytals for example may well just give you 3 stars. This is bad for Kabam’s buissness model as well, many people on the forums have said that after spending 100s of pounds on cavaliers, they got trash and now will no longer spend on the game, this means kabam has lost future buissness.
Signature stones and high-tier awakening gems can be a good way of getting garunteed value, however RNG is still involved here, the ‘perfect’ deal would have near to no RNG involved. The 5* nexus awakening gem deal was a very good example of this. Yes there is an element of RNG, kabam didn’t want to give a generic gem simply because they still hold lots of value. You had a 50/50 chance to get any 1 class after all. Yes it is possible that £70 was a little too high to entice first time spenders but overall I believe that was the best deal kabam had offered us for a long time. In conclusion generic signature stones/nexus crystals hold a far higher value then class based/basic crystals.
Finally the icing of the cake in any in game deal, gold. There is apparently a gold problem that many players are experiencing. Although it is possible to simply grind arenas and sell ISO many players do not want to go through the long and sometimes arduous processes involved here. So what better way of enticing in players than gold? Now we saw from the golden doubloons event how valuable gold is, around 1 doubloon. Now if we say that £100 would have got you 375000 gold you might think that’s a low amount but we must bear in mind that the gold there, as in many other deals, is completely additional to the other valuable items in that event such as a 5* generic AG. I think a generous amount of gold would be to say for every £10, 100000 gold is due on top.
Game economy should also be taken into account, we could say the ‘perfect’ deal is a 6* generic AG for £5 but of course that would destroy the games economy. The abyss of legends would look like it’s not worth doing when one can simply spend £5 instead. We must bear in mind that, on average to complete the labyrinth of legends, taking the easy path with a 5/65 it might take 400 units worth of revives

So 2 5*s and a 5* class AG crystal is valued now, in the current game economy, at £13 however a 5* generic AG along with 45000 5* shards and a 5* OG ultron is valued at 3480 units (source is the same as above), which is roughly an Odin + 1 in 8.1 of an Odin, in terms of money that’s £112, much more right? This is in terms of doing LOL though and the person who posted the thread where I got this information admits hit playing was sloppy sometimes. Taking this into account I would say that a 5* Genric AG, 4 5*s and a 5* ultron is equal to roughly £100 (also however much it takes to get a 5* Ægon to 5/65 which currently you can do for free)
So in conclusion I think that the perfect deal is as follows;
- Under £25, to entice more spenders
- Garunteed value, no crytals/cavs
- Selectable, like a nexus AG/T4cc selector
- Good for game economy
- Contains a fair amount of gold
- Is useful in the meta, sure you could give us a 4* generic for £5, it fits these criteria, but is it useful?
