Dev Diary: The Future of Quests

As we mention in the post, we'd like to hear from you, our players, on what your Act 6 Pain Points with certain bosses were. We have some of our own plans and targets in the works, but they’re still early on and we don’t want to limit the possibilities by talking specifics just yet.

We're going to set up a player focus group with a selection of 20-30 Summoners from across The Battlerealm and work with them to do some discovery surrounding what made some of the more troubling fights problematic. We're looking for players that have attempted Act 6 and can identify areas in which they felt they faced a challenge that was more difficult than they expected.

The compensation needs to be hefty for the those who already 100% act 6. I probably spent 300 USD to 100 percent that champion chapter. And another 2k USD between 6.2, 6.3, and 6.4. I understand compensation won’t be close to that but you guys need to stop Nerfing old content.

I don’t speak for everyone but I imagine there are many people waiting until after July 4th deals to finish exploring Act 6. A more specific timeframe on updates to certain fights and reduced attack values would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise it all looks really exciting!

Just to clarify, even if the act 6 changes are more than 3 months after I’ve done that content I’ll still get compensation right?

Just gotta say, this looks absolutely amazing, just like the first roadmap it Inc life’s everything we wanted (act 6 attack stuff cav eq variant 5 etc) but also even more, I’m supper excited for that boss rush, and it seems like the omega thing will be fairly similar to a champion challenge, and I’m of course hyped for the new endgame endgame thing, looks amazing overall
3 months before update. From what I understood. Don't agree with that though. Should be whenever for Act 6.3/6.4

Yeah, really hoping that’s just In regards to the act 2 stuff and all that, act 6 changes are far different than simple reward buffs in lower acts

Will the "No Retreat!" global node be removed in Act 6.1 or only the Champion boss fight?

When is the champion fight being nerfed? The announcement and intentions are great and all, but until it actually happens its still just words. Days, weeks, months?

That's not bein selfish, its realizing that people who put if off and used their units for something else are at a big advantage if those who already completed it aren't compensated.

Wow, really good post. Very frustrating at the same time because the community has been saying all that about act 6 for a year now. Thank you for admitting your mistakes and lowering attack values. No retreat was too much, thank you for admitting that. Lowering block penetration was very much needed.

After seeing the "updated exciting AW refinements", can't really say if I'm excited.

Most of the stuff are just promises with no specific timelines. It's all great that they will do rework on Act 6 fights and so on but with no timelines, I ain't holding my breath. In fact I think we should lower the bar of expectations from them...

I think lots of us were expecting to see hard numbers on how the rewards will be bumped up from what we have now. All the current event quest rewards are stuck in 2017, and there seems to be no changes mentioned about that?

Is that the only Pain Point? There are a lot of people in our Community that do not partake in the Forums or other areas of the Community that have valid feedback. Additionally, it's not just about "what is the pain point", but also "why is it a pain point"? Additionally, as we said in the post, we have ideas of our own, but want to work with our players in a way that many of you have asked guys to do in the past.

Compensation absolutely needs to be given out to everyone who completed Act 6 and especially who explored it in its current form. The changes are substantial and I really don’t like the word “recently completed” when describing who will receive the compensation if there is any. There needs to be compensation and it needs to be for everyone regardless of when they completed it.
Also, will the Summer of Pain be permanent content or end after this summer

Yeah I was surprised at how little it actually said. I don’t know why I’m surprised actually, but I am. I was expecting a fully detailed post not this. It’s a good start but it’s only a start. It reads more like a pitch than a plan.

I m happy about those changes but why are the easiest changes not live already ? I mean, decreasing atk from a global node is not a big deal, is it ? Completing act6 is very time consuming, the fastest it is live, the better

For clarification, RE the focus group. Will this focus group work on removing specific nodes in act 6? Will they be looking at which node and/or node/champ combinations are too much? Do you bleed path in 6.2, acid wash mysterio, removing some nodes from sinister? Is that what the focus group is going to do? Work on removing nodes? If yes, THANK YOU! We need some nodes removed too.

Honestly i don’t think it should be nerfed at all. I think content that is released should stay the same. If you can’t complete it then play better. Ive watched much better players then me solo the collector, i could not, so i got through with units. If content is to hard then it should not be released. I would rather them not nerf it at all and have everyone struggle the same. This is a competitive game, not patty cake.
