Infinite keys in mutant treasure island

I was going through the quest and picked up the awakening gem on legendary difficulty, then realized it was immediately sent to my Crystal stash. I quit the quest and went back in and I still had my key. I’m not sure if this the most pressing matter, but I wanted to point this out. I’m not going to do the run again and use this key, as I feel this is another exploit that wasn’t intended.

    Would it be ok if I used this key again? Or should I just act like it doesn’t exist.
