What to spend units on?

I get a lot of people saying to spend units on masteries, but they never specify if i should spend them on mastery cores, or unlocking new masteries using ur units, or changing them for specific battles. Can u guys clarify for me?

    Almost always people mean cores. It’s best masteries are unlocked with cores so it’s a good idea to save units to buy those.

    Thank you for the awesome clear response. I'm gonna get 2 stony mastery cores for dexterity becuz ppl are saying thats one of the best masteries to have. Appreciate it!
