Umm...I am getting outsmarted by AI?

Sometimes the AI is really one step ahead of me and I feel like I have been outsmarted.
Perfect example: NC in this month side quest. I can see the AI getting smarter with every run (did 17 so far). First 10 tries he was shy, didnt block much and let me switch him to Swashbuckling. But slowly and steadily he was learning and adapting. Next trick he learnt was SP1 spam in Neyaphem, so that he evades a lot. I still managed to get him to Swashbuckling somehow tho, so he adapted again. And now he has perfected it: while in Meyaphem, spam SP1. Once you enter Swashbuckling, throw only SP3s. Once he enters that mode, he instantly becomes extremely passive and saves up to his sp3. Last time, he even threw one sp3 and then saved up for a second one without attacking even once. That boi is smarter than me and I am looking forward to seeing other tricks he has up his sleeve

I have tried to do it by changing his mode but first of all when I hit him on the block he evades and loses his timer. Only way to change his mode is to throw sp1 on his block. Secondly it is too slow compared to the parry heavy method.
