How do I handle E.M.P Modification?

Sergeant_Sergeant_ Member Posts: 272 ★★
So I just recently completed Act 5 and just today I've done 6.1.1 (that was painful).....

Now the Ultron Boss in 6.1.2 has a node called E.M.P Modification, which I'm sure atleast 60-70% of people would have faced. I just don't know how to play around this node! The passive shock does soo much of dmg and it's super annoying.

Keep in mind that I do not have a shock immune or a power-control champ as a 5 or 6*. In case anyone was wondering, my current roster consists of 6* Domino, Elsa, Man-Thing, Ultron, 5* r4 Falcon, r3 5* Ibom.

I would really appreciate tips on how to play around this node and would also love to know tips on how to fight that Ultron boss.

Thx in advance!

If you could post a pic, it would be much more helpful. But from what you said, you could use falcon if it counts as defensive ability accuracy, but it’s probably offensive though. Even I didn’t have any shock immune champ too, so what I did was try to deal as much damage as possible without him throwing specials. But please post a pic or two of your 5 and 6 star roster.

Post a pic of your roster and I will give you my tips from experience
😂 lol I also did 6.1.1 two days ago and am stuck on 6.1.2 ultron boss with only one shock immune champ and that too mole man who is useless as Ultron is bleed immune. Don't expect tips from me bro

I haven't tried it myself but it's possible that Ultron's sig might mitigate quite a lot of that shock damage. Not as good as a shock immune champion would, of course, but it might be an alternative.

Other than that, I would suggest you just use champs that don't rely on buffs. I don't remember the rest of the nodes but unless he's unblockable or something, it might be better to eat blocked hits than to dex back and add a charge to the EMP Mod node.

That would obviously be easier if parrying worked correctly, though.

Can you show us some more of your roster? You may have someone who would help more and then you can devote some future resources to them.

Nebula got me through sentinel and chunked ultron .. ghost finished him off ..

based on your short list above .. would your ultron help any? he would mitigate some of the dmg .. but not the best option for sure :(

    Ultron, if awakened.

I used domino and red hulk on him. She doesn’t trigger buffs aside from dexterity and has good block proficiency. I parry his sp1 and just bombed him with heavies trying not to dex. He puts some fatigue debuff or similar on you that stops crits which I used willpower to heal from while stalling him with parries and waiting for it to fall off. Worked a treat.

    1. Consider removing your dex mastery. Avoiding dexing is hugely important for that fight if you don't have options there.
    2. For this fight u want to avoid parry stunning him at the start of the fight unless he doesn't have the power gain option. Once you've hurt him some, avoid the regen too if you can.
    3. Void, Caiw (with tech), doc ock, warlock, or anyone else with a heal block and/or a petrify effect is hugely helpful here. Mr F or whatever Mags prefights help a lot too.
    4. Red magneto and white magneto can both do this fight with less stress than most - not perfect options but good.
    5. You have Domino. Bring Red Hulk and parry/heavy him down.

Just confused as to why Medusa didn't make it to this list. My r4 Medusa ruined that bot

There’s no way you’re getting through the fight without using units. The best strategy for you is to deal as much damage as possible without dying. Honestly I would try to rank up Cull and heavy spam and deal how much damage I can, but you seem low on catalysts so that would be hard for you. I would just suggest going for the first strategy, you do have a good amount of units too.

Yup I don't think I'll be able to rank up Cull cuz of the lack of catalysts. But I'm not entirely sure if I'll use units cuz I am doing a bunch of potion farming soo maybe won't be using units. But thx anyway for your advice!

Lvl 47 with so many six stars.

I got super lucky during the Gifting Event last year and pulled 4 6* that way.

I did it with R4 Magneto. I had more issues with 6.1.6. Sentinel. Even Crossbones was a breeze with my R4 5* and R1 6* Warlock.

So my best bet at getting past this Ultron is just to go in and do as much dmg as possible and then repeat?

I mean there is still combo party cruelty buff, so he is kinda gonna take special attacks to his face

Yea. I soloed CB then spent a ton of revives on Sentinel. I have no idea why people talk about CB when Sentinel is the more difficult fight.

Because xb needs a poison immune who can deal enough damage. Plenty can do sentinel hes just very annoying and you end up building his charges and dexing a bazillion specials if if dont die quickly. Hes skill-based instead of counter-based.
I suppose he's easy for me because I had Guilly and other counters. I had Medusa for Sentinel but the block damage wasn't fun while I waited out the fisticuffs, I died before fisticuffs ended more than anything. Then there's the usual game bugs: Dropped inputs, random heavy charging, lags, etc.
CB was fun as I tried not to get clipped and intercept while Sentinel was not even skill-based, just a slog.
