They hoped it would be out in 2021 however the concept is a lot more difficult to execute then on paper. Because you're essentially allowing each individual player to select 10 champions to be added into a crystal before the RNG kicks in so that's a system, on top of a system, on top of a system, based on a selection for every single player. Maybe it's a case of eyes being bigger than their stomachs or maybe the aftermath of 2020 just threw everything for talespin but even if nothing had happened these past few months, the task itself is still quite daunting.
At this point I’m starting to pull champs that I would’ve picked for the wish crystal. I’ve already pulled fury and archangel recently. By the time this thing comes out, idk if there’s 10 champs I’d pick to put in it since a lot of champs from this year so far have been kinda disappointing.
I got my most wanted champ cap iw from the dual science mystic crystal.Ive opened a few of these and the drop rates to get the champs you desire are higher than the basic crystal. You may have to choose this crystal until the wish crystal comes around.
If they can’t make Wish Crystals work, and it seems like there would be a lot of layers of coding involved to allow this to happen, then maybe there is an easier solution.
They could create a gem that could be purchased for X shards of the necessary type and you simply pick the champ you want from a list. They could limit this to however many times per year they felt appropriate while giving players the opportunity to get the champs they really want.
I would think it would have to be a premium price on shards (likely 20K instead of the 10K or even 15K for crystals now), but if players knew they were getting EXACTLY who they wanted, I would think it would be a fair exchange.

While the intent is noble, I fear adding a permanent currency runs the risk of fraud and even limiting purchases to once every 6 months, will still give an illegitimate prize to mercs and secondary services over honest players.

That is certainly a risk, but to the vast majority of players (the FTP and low spending crowd), they aren’t concerned with mercs and secondary services, because they aren’t competing at the highest levels in the top alliances. This game is a distraction or pastime for them.
To them, they’re tired of spinning the wheel and pulling Joe Fixit or OG Spidey or Miles or Vulture or Green Goblin when what they really want is CAIW or Ghost, the champs that can help them get through the content ahead of them or who they just happen to really want.
Maybe this will be a big issue that I’m just not considering. I’m willing to admit my view is based on my perspective and not that of a top-level player, and maybe it’s naive, but getting to pick a champ once or twice a year would be something great for a big part of the community.
With these crystals, do they only contain the champs you choose, or are there just “greater chances”? Seems very un-Kabam-like to give players that much of a chance to obtain great champs.
You select 2 champs from each class and then put inton1 crystal and you walk away with one of them

I can understand the appeal of it, I'm missing quite a few champs as 5s and 6s but I try to not dwell on it because I'm nowhere near end-game content, so I couldn't even begin to imagine that feeling. My initial reaction was mostly referring to both the last couple of years with gift giving season coupled with the old days of having the gifting badge and how easily that was abused and by default ruined it for anyone who did everything legitimately.

When is the next roadmap anyway?
Let me introduce you to what we call a "Wish Sandwich".
