Variant 8 Cross-fight Abilities Disappear After Death

So I was using my 3* Deadpool in Variant 8 Quest 2.2 and died at Mangog with him, and my three cross-fights on Deadpool disappeared. Just wanted some clarification on whether that's part of the design (you're meant to lose those cross-fight abilities at death) or if it's a bug. I don't really use champions with cross-fight abilities in general so I'm not familiar with whether that's typical behaviour for cross-fight abilities, either.
