It says to use a -force or new avengers champs, but I don’t see any.
What am I missing?

    Use 1 tag at a time
    It applies both if you select 2

    U need to use only 1 tag at a time
    The sorting mechanic reads it as champs that are A-force as well as New Avengers, & there's no champ like that
    Tag based sorting relies on "and" function, not "or"

    Thanks for the clarification. I was finally able to figure it out. I had just assumed that since clicking two classes sorts out both of those classes, thus it would work the same for tags. I guess that would be too straightforward to have all the sorting mechanisms work the same way.
