Saving for July 4th deals

BitterSteelBitterSteel Member Posts: 9,264 ★★★★★
Just as a PSA, it’s 176 days until July 4th so if you save 100 units a day (plus a tiny bit more) you’ll get enough from that to purchase all 18k deals. I’m starting to save from today, resisting the urge of a Kitty Cav Crystal.

Anyone who is planning on buying these offers as FTP, it’s best to start saving and hoarding units now (avoid that one more Cav Crystal). Hopefully we may get a Platpool event for a nice chunk of units, act 7 has a nice amount of units as well.

If anyone wants to share progress or tips for unit grinding feel free!

Obviously arena is the best place for units, but I’ve found that if you have a surplus of energy towards the end of the month, running completion on all the classic back issues can get you a nice amount of units!

Completion of normal, heroic etc can be good as well and will help you build up reserves.

Good luck everyone and hopefully hoarding goes well and July 4th has some good unit deals!

I actually started just not spending units again until December's gifting lol BUT i had forgotten about July so maybe twice a year I'll use units. But I am committed to not use a single unit this year unless it's for December or now July.

I’ve started my area grind for July 4th. I can get like 2000-2500 a week if I grind all milestones and count battlechips at (500k=1000 units) and have the unit subscription card

Yeah I’m starting back on arena once my masters is over, even just a bit here and there really adds up

I‘ll grind around 1k units per week.
That alone is enough for the Unit deals and i save all my battlechips as backup for gifting ;)

I’m actually planning to save up 27k to get ALL the unit deals this time. I’m a heavy arena grinder, so I can get about 1600 units a week. So I should easily have enough to get all of it

Arena isn’t the most fun thing but if you can find time to do any of it, it’s well worth the effort in the long run

Thanks for this. I already went after the featured cavs, but this post will help keep me in check until July. Doing the lord’s work, @BitterSteel

Also if you click on the synergies square for champions that are getting sent off in arena (the area of the screen where you spend 150 gold to start the arena match) you get a free 5 units!

    You’re welcome!

I must confess I did this for partly selfish reasons of keeping myself in check next time I feel like buying some Cavs :D

This is assuming you need 18k again and it’s not replaced with a store like Cyber weekend

You still needed 18k for cyber weekend, it just meant you had more choice for where to spend your units and for what

Not to throw a wrench in this, but the deals might not even be worth it.

I basically did this with the small amount of time between July 4 and Cyber Weekend last year. I had like 4k units and ended up with 18k before CM , but I only bought the featured Crystal deal.

If the same trend continues, those units may be better off spent on suicides /content etc

    FYI

My post harvest units for the 2022 gifting event. You can apply what I have posted for 4th July unit deals

I thought the deals were incredibly worth it on cyber weekend. Not to say that you should have too, but it goes to show that it’s personal whether it’s worth it. So it’s best to save and make the decision then. Better to have the units and not like the deals, than not have the units and wish you could buy them.

Wow, i can't believe we are already talking about july 4th lol....

This past year IMO proved Christmas deals were better than the 4th deals so i haven't decided if i am going to even spend then. I am more focused on using units to get thronebreaker.

An let's all be real....spring cleaning might have the best overall rewards an i can't wait for that event

Would it be worth it over trying to save for Grandmaster's Gauntlet? I ranked up Aegon specifically for it as I didn't make it in time to be TB when it released. Have a spreadsheet for it and everything, with the addition of notes for each individual fight like a lunatic. At most I guess I'll be spending 1.5K and at least 500 if everything goes to plan. Save for that or go all in on J4?

My advice would be grind revives from quest content, you can save yourself the unit cost by getting a ton of L1 revives. And that way you still have units for July 4th!

1.5k units is 38 L2 revives, and you can grind revives for a couple weeks and make up that amount, Winter Soldier in RoL can be used for health potions too.

Thing is, it really does take that long to save units if you don’t have time for much arena, so yeah haha we are talking about it already.

I’m not sure what you mean by Christmas deals? They had a small number of 6* shards, Cav crystals etc. Those deals were awful, and couldn’t be purchased by units so it’s not strictly relevant.

Plus, Spring cleaning cant be bought with units either, only cash, so again - not super relevant.
