Mole man and Monster Mass not working properly

Hi, I’ve been using Mole man for quite a time and I know how he works.But today while I was using him for my Alliance Quest I found something strange. When I got my Monster Mass up to 8 I usually go back hold block and wait for them to come so I can activate the passive , but oddly enough today it was not activating my passive.

    Map 4 I fought 3 fights with Mole man and it didn’t work on any of them.It was fine when I activated
    it with SP3.Just blocking a hit was not it.

    I just did a act 5 completion run today (yeah, I'm laging behind). Used him for most of the fights. Worked fine for me.

    Perhaps some kind of aar is at play here? Any kind of modifiers on your AQ map? Which nodes and champs were you against?
