When I heard 1v1 battleground, I was expecting we could challenge our friends for live match

ya, cause holding block waiting for the other person to make the first move would be fun.....not so much17

I was thinking… if they ever did make a live 1v1, there would obviously have to be some changes. No parry stun, maybe holding block causes the opponent to generate power (think recharge but on the opposing champ), and maybe even dexterity is converted to evasion instead, so that evade countering champs can stop dexterity from triggering.
Even still, it would be very difficult to execute and play it lol6 -
When you say 1 v 1 vs friends do you mean just that you can challenge your friends? So you still play the AI, but you can fight your friends championsKUZURI said:Kamab should actually do something about bringing 1v1 among friends in real time
Or do you mean that you actually want to play where the enemy is controlled by your friend, not the AI?2 -
If you mean make a private battlegrounds match against your friends instead of randoms, that’s something they’re working on that isn’t in beta.
If you mean actual 1v1 in terms of each player controls one champion and fights the other, no. Not going to happen in an effective manner in the game.9 -
The game cannot handle LIVE 1V1 and would have worse crashes than what people have been experiencing with this set-up.2

Well you expected wrong 💀0

I thought the same when I read “head-to-head”. And saw the energy cost. And the development time. All good, I tried it and it wasn’t bad.0

Totally agree Kamab should do that but what about Kabam1

This will be a disaster if Kabam is implementing this friend match feature.
For example, I have two accounts, one main and one mini and I will keep playing against each other and let the mini lose every time and the main account will get all rewards. You will know what will happen.

Pretty simple to just not let challenge matchmaking (where you choose your match up) count towards your rating or rewards. Just make it for funEmmaGhost said:This will be a disaster if Kabam is implementing this friend match feature.

Playing against actual live players in real time might make that hamster that powers kabam’s servers spontaneously combust0

The option to challenge friends has already been announced as a future feature of the game mode, and it is all but certain that this option will not entitle you to the standard rewards of the game mode, because that would be broken.EmmaGhost said:This will be a disaster if Kabam is implementing this friend match feature.

I have suggested that it is *possible* for the friend challenge mode to contain trivial rewards, of a kind similar to Incursion friendship milestones, or cosmetics (i.e. pfps). But the meat and potatoes rewards of BG are most definitely not going to be farmable by players using accounts to battle each other to farm for wins.0 -
Challenging your friends is coming. Playing against them directly (as opposed to challenging their defenders controlled by the AI) is never coming. It would be technologically infeasible.KUZURI said:Kamab should actually do something about bringing 1v1 among friends in real time

This is at least more akin to those worldwide contest Champion Showdowns (or whatever they were called), where we each get to fight against an opponent's defender (so both ways, as compared to just a normal 1-sided Duel).
Fighting someone as a DUEL and winning is really no accomplishment, cause everyone should be able to win in a Duel.
This way you get to compare “well, how dominating were you and how fast did you kill them”.
So it is a nice way to really compete against someone (even if they are not truly live non-AI fights).0 -
