Watching kabams scared little ai running away and hiding and blocking in the corner and never throwing specials is just stupid. Wow. Good job kabam. Keep up the great work /s

It’s getting tiresome really quick… especially in war . The baiting of specials is horrible, besides the passive hiding in the corners.

My favorite is Hela in the Cav quest. You get faltered if she dashes back. She blocks and dashes back constantly so you have small windows in which you aren't faltered. Makes the fight so tedious.

Replicating their weird twitchy "blocking" is a mild source of entertainment for me

Though it's weird, because a few times when I actually want them to block (e.g. I am using Masacre) they... don't

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the AI has gotten passive at the same time new champs are being released that excel at block penetration (Hulkling and Valkyrie).

This is especially bad in battlegrounds.

In a lot of content, you can "invest" 30 seconds dancing around trying to bait a special.

In battlegrounds, I've lost "easy matchups" (where I have 6 star r4s to their 5 stars, in favorable matchups) because I spend 45 seconds trying to get the opponent to throw a special. For some fights, I even consider intentionally taking a SP3, as the damage taken from some champs is less points than waiting around.

While in theory this "could effect both players"... and in the very long term one could argue there is balance... the long term for such things is hundreds if not thousands of fights... not a few 2 out of 3 matches per day for a couple weeks.

Its similar to opening champion crystals. The RNG factor opening 1 or even 10 crystals is huge. Open 5000, and eventually it levels out... but we rarely get to see that, and only get to live in the swings of small samples.

    AI coding:

Dash back, block, block, block, block, block, dash back, dash back, dash medium, dash back, block, block, block, block, block

If between 1.3 and 1.4 bars of power, throw sp1 5ms after opponent activated dexterity. Else, wait. If between 2.2 and 2.3 bars of power, throw sp2 10ms after opponent initiates dash medium. If at >2.3 bars of power limit all movements to only dash back and block until at 3 bars of power.

slight correction... then throw the SP3 the very planck-time (also known as planck second) you gain the 3rd bar of power, even though there hasn't even been a frame rate yet to update the display to change the color to red yet.

This is one thing that especially irritates me
Spending ages trying to bait SP2, accidentally pushing them to SP3 and immediately eating it, usually with my champ visibly making contact with the opponent

I think it’s entirely how they mean it to be.

I posted months ago about the AI change at lower difficulties and was told it was me, that I sucked at the game, and so on.

What I think they did is tested the new AI at lower levels (normal-master) and have just recently brought it up to uncollected and cavalier. It’s not just passive though…

    Traits:
Much less likely to come in to be parried at start of fight. I’ve noticed it’s especially w champs who rely on parry/heavy. Algorithm is adaptive depending on opponent.

Much faster dexterity, followed by intercept

Super slow heavies from AI, catching you off because you’re not used to the new timing

Will perform 3-4 dashes at you super fast, hoping to catch you missing the final dex

Will passively sit and hold block either intercepting or dexing with perfect timing as you move in.

There’s much more but these are the ones that stand out right now.

In short it’s much faster, much less likely to go for the repeated parry/heavy super passive sometimes, and super fast 3-4 mediums at you other times.

It’s slowly rolled up the difficulties, which is why most people are just seeing it recently.
