Battlegrounds drafting disadvantage

I think if you look at the battlegrounds win/loss statistics and compare that to who picked first in their draft, there would be a very evident correlation between picking first and losing. Would it be possible to change BGs so that the person who drafts first picks their defender second, during the first and last rounds?

This Reddit post sums it up nicely:

I haven’t fully run it through in my head, so please point out any issues with this. But couldn’t both players place defenders simultaneously in the last round?

Say there’s a 15 second count down, defenders are hidden until the time is up, then the defender pops up for both of you. You then pick an attacker. That removes the final round who placed first advantage. There are plenty of matches that come down to the 3rd round where I know I’d have won it if I’m placing second and there are plenty i know I won because

Is there a downside to that in any other aspect of the match? I have a feeling there could be a knock on effect, like if I’m facing someone with an IBom in their final 3, I may not place Peni (if she’s my only poison immune) on defence because what if they placed their Ibom?

I’d be interested to see how it worked and felt to play, and whether any downsides are net positive rather than an inherent advantage to one side.

The major issue I see with this is that Kabam has to implement the simultaneous picking and we all know that’s gonna be completely bug free on release lol.
You could use that as an argument against literally anything being added to the game though haha

From a gameplay perspective what do you think? Does it solve the issue of advantage?

I kinda agree, but don't think your suggestion will make it better. I'd wish defender drafts were simultaneous and blind, would add some fun for sure

I would say it's balanced to a degree by the fact that whoever picks first picks one, then the other player picks two and so on until the last drafts where the player who picked first ends with picking two.

Just pick an ambiguous first pick, useful for either offense or defense when possible of course. Very optimistic thinking lol.

I have only problem is that that while picking defender in 3rd match, 1 one to pick is mostly as disadvantage.

So if the final defender pick is blind then it would double edge sword. The luck will be biggest factor there cuz it will also include your overall picks and what you left with.
Imo instead of blind pick, both get to place defender at same time but visible to each other. It will likely to lead most of players to place in last second which can be fun and also nerve wrecking as everyone will try to place in last second. Because in current system whoever place 2nd have advantage of planning and picking right counter.
