Increase in numbers

At times 30 members in an alliance can be a downfall as many players are in alliances they don't want to be in due to the alliance they want to actually be in is full and this could be an alliance that full os friends and family. Would is be a bad idea to increase alliance numbers to let's say 35 - 40.

The problem would then be needing to adjust AQ and AW to accommodate more players, otherwise players get shut out of rewards periodically or even worse are denied rewards altogether by leadership favoring others.
Players being in alliances they don’t want to be in is their own problem. Same goes for leadership that puts up with said players.
The real problem with alliances today is that lazy players have equal access to rewards as hard working players. Take the current BG season. My alliance has several players ranging from 400k-700k points. The bum at the bottom with 1,200 points is going to get the same alliance rewards. There needs to be more incentive for players to actually put effort in, just like how the gifting/banquet event had minimum contributions for each milestone. This would make it easier for like-minded players to join up and it would reduce the frustration that comes with motivated players carrying lazy ones.

Agreed well said but having more fights or paths in AW would be better. AQ to me is dead and is mostly setup for newer players as doing story mode provides way better rewards.

Better rewards in one shot, yes, but you will still get more rank rewards (at least up to R4 materials) over 6 months of AQ than out of one chapter of story content. The current story content advantage is R5/R2 materials which AQ will hopefully have in the very near future with the new season and glory store update.
In its current state AQ is the most stale piece of content the game has to offer. It’s boring, it’s repetitive and it requires more time than should be necessary. Kabam needs to hit a home run with its upcoming update. Until we see it I will remain hopeful.

AQ is just a plain headache. I was a huge fan of it sometime back but now my alliance we don't even bother it's optional and the rewards in BG is miles better than glory store. I think kabam needs to remove AQ and replace it with something more exciting. Even with the store being buffed I don't think AQ activity will increase that much.
