Value in Ranking Defenders

I am a fairly casual player, don't do competitive AW, and don't spend a lot - so my resources for ranking up champions are pretty limited and I'm focussing them primarily on champions who are going to help me the most on my team.

But, now I'm looking to get into Battlegrounds a bit more as it's so clearly a valuable source of resources but I notice often that my drafts are like 80% offensive. How worthwhile is it to rank up champions who are much more useful on the defensive, but that' I'm virtually never going to use in Story mode or other Quests? Are there some champs who are particularly worthwhile ranking up for BG defence?

IMO ranking purely for BGs isn't the best idea. BGs are rewarding but getting the highest progression title is much more important, and will actually make BGs even more rewarding as they lower the cost of everything in the store.

You could look to try and level up champs who meet both criteria, and can be useful for both attack and defense in BGs.

Kingpin, Nick Fury, Hulkling, Galan, Rintrah, Doom, Warlock, Nimrod, Future Ant Man just to name a few are all champs who work on both attack and defense, while also being good for pushing progression.

What I do is that I rank up double threat champs that are good on both offense and defense. Champs like hulking,kitty pryde and galan for example.

Rankup champs like kitty nick kingpin doom hulkling who can do well in both offense nd defense

When you get to the point where you have enough champs to cover you for quests and adding one more only marginally helps, you should definitely rank up defense champs.
