IDEA: Bringing Valiant Difficulty to Existing Back Issues

I love back issues. They all have their own specific quest types. I really loved the one where we used 1-2-3-4 star characters or the one with using sentinel was op. Since we are not getting a new one, as an idea maybe bring a new difficulty to existing ones? It would be a nice end game content for valiant players to do. It could have a 7 star 1-2 gem for 2015 or 2016 characters as a reward. Just an idea but even thinking about it is exciting :smiley:

    Sure but I would rather see new variants. An idea I had since the sagas started were saga variants. Like you could only use saga specific champions (similar to the XL variant and the #Villain variant)

    Of course I'd love a new variant, but the rewards will be meh if they keep the same structure and difficulty. But I'd still do it and love it on day 1, don't get me wrong :smiley:

    They would definitely change the structure and difficulty. When variants came out, they were directed towards Cav and UC players and eventually TB players with the release of variant 8. But now we have paragon and valiant.

    Sure the newest variant should've the most relevant rewards like 6 star rank 4-5 gems and 7 star shards (or even era specific 7 star rank up gems like I mentioned). But looking at old variants and their rewards, this would be a huuge jump since we didn't get one for a really long time. Like they never even gave 6 star 1-2 gem or a full 6 star crystal.

    And correct me if I'm wrong but I vaguely remember kabam saying they are done with variants and a new one won't come(and it didn't). So my idea was based on this memory, no new ones but old ones get new difficulty so an old existing content could become a new end game content. But I might be wrong about they are being done with variants.

    Well that's great then, I'm really happy to hear that. Do both, bring new difficulty to old ones and also new variants 😁

    I really love the old variants and it would be cool to use all of our new champions even on the old ones. Like imagine using 2 star enchantress (or any other 2 star we got from that recent arena) on that quest or 7 star BRB on class specific variant.

    Well that's great then, I'm really happy to hear that. Do both, bring new difficulty to old ones and also new variants 😁

    Issue its finding time since it is more stuff for the questing team so atm who knows when they be back like ive been wanting more variants for a while and when they said somewhere on forums about it coming back its just interesting but at same time might not happen

    Cant find it but i did thought there was an update on a certain thread of an update of they are looking to do something with it but could also have been a stream maybe of a question its been so long since this question has been brought up of back issues

    There is a good chance it might be asked and answered on a live stream. I just hope they can get enough free time to go through with it.

    Be tough though with all the new questing content and acts might take time who knows hopefully they be back though as fun content to do

    Great idea! Hope kabam will see your comment, realize variants are just a waste of time and remove them completely from the game. As a compensation for such a horrible game mode we all should also get 9 star sig 400 Hercules and Quake. Right?

    As much as I love variant, I think the game's moved past them. Monthly event quest incorporated a lot of elements from them and I would say the same for story content ATM, plus things like saga incursions and the like kinda do the same thing.

    I just think that kind of content in the current day would be either be too low or rewards for the effort that goes into them or would be such a jump in rewards that that kind of quest structure probably would be easy too easy to obtain.

    Silly request … even the classic difficulties are great. You can auto fight it and get mastery cores , units and other items .

    As much as I love variant, I think the game's moved past them. Monthly event quest incorporated a lot of elements from them and I would say the same for story content ATM, plus things like saga incursions and the like kinda do the same thing.

    I just think that kind of content in the current day would be either be too low or rewards for the effort that goes into them or would be such a jump in rewards that that kind of quest structure probably would be easy too easy to obtain.

    Well I wouldn't say no to a permanent content that has great rewards for its time. Like I said too, bringing a new one would be a huge jump in rewards but bringing new difficulty to old ones and updating rewards accordingly would be fine. Of course I'm ok with both.

    Wouldn't compare monthly or story event structure to the variants though. They were much different and cool to do.

    Using a single champion is too op (sentinel); great,
    Able use only 2 classes; interesting idea like that really bring out the power of synergy, I remember using thing with full champion, hela, heimdal synergy was amazing.

    You get the point. In monthly EQ using a skill champ in a certain chapter is not the same and you can still use herc or stun with hulk and still win those matches in monthly EQ. But in variants either you can't bring them or use them to deal damage. This was the thing that made variants perfect for me. No single top champs on every content you need a strategy.

    I really loved the new crucible as well not being able to use same champ twice was an amazing idea. I think we need (not really need but most of us just love it) contents like these to be forced into using different champs and appreciate them. So crucible was a great step into that, variants was the OG great content for me.

    But eq has also introduced nodes related to specific groups and tags as well as classes, I'm not saying it's a complete replacement but it's adapting that idea into a way that isn't done once you've explored the quest which realistically isn't that hard to do anymore if you're really pushing. If they just bump the difficulty of the quests by massively inflating the pi then it's just repeating the same quest over again but now you have a bigger roster and also much stronger champions. I don't think 6 stars were even a thing when v1 came out so even if they doubled the attack and health pools it would still be less difficult than it was at time of release

    The aim now seems to be in making story content more tailored and with focused paths as opposed to just 8 different paths with random nodes and defenders and it's just hard to see how variant could really come back in the state of the game now without being majorly reworked, which I'm not opposed to I just don't think it's likely.
