I don’t understand why the most important mode in the game when it comes ftp has not received any changes in years and the last “change” they made was to add arena express which was geared towards spenders not sure who the genius behind that idea was… but aside from that it’s been about 3 years if i recall since arena actually received an update which to me feels like Kabam is saying we don’t care about our free to play players
They don't even bother fixing any of the bugs in there
The A.I is terrible just like any other mode except in arena it’s a different type of terrible the a.i is passive will just dash back and block, some times they just wont block at all and wait for the moment you attack to parry you, they wont throw their specials and it's movements in general are just really random and it does things at the most inopportune time, this mainly happens in summoner trials and catalyst arenas and the Sunday arenas
And it’ll happen at random in the basic and featured arenas as far as i can tell.
Death matches are still a thing for some odd reason i really just don't get the point of them, and having to manually put in champs to avoid them wastes time, if you do get a death match it wastes even more time cause it takes like 2c minutes to kill a r3 and sometimes you’ll just get a random bad a.i like the one I mentioned above and you’ll just die and lose your streak
The filter button has remained broken for god knows how long now which not only makes the mode more boring than it already is but it just wastes time
Sunday arena and catalyst arena remain unchanged, no units on Sundays which is fine but the best reward you can get is like a 5 star crystal or something and for the cat arena it’s like t1a t4cc and t4b
Last but not least the game mode is boring i feel like most people can agree on that, there’s so much they can do with this mode but instead they just leave it at put 3 champs in a slot, fight a bad a.i rinse and repeat me personally i have to have something constantly in my ear or something else going on so i don’t immediately start dozing off and that’s not even a joke or an exaggeration
I feel like their main goal is to make the mode as un-enticing possible so that people don't get free units they probably regret making this mode entirely but they just cant outright delete it at this point cause if they do they know they’ll have to either make something new or redistribute units into other modes that are more fun and players will actually want to do them, Regardless if this is true or not that’s the vibe they're giving off

If they touch the arena at all, they're going to make units harder to get. So it's best they leave it alone for now
The rest isn’t a big deal imo. Death matches have always been a thing and as someone who only does milestones they’re very easily avoidable as I just repeatedly use the top of my roster. If you’re grinding for a champ I could see it being a bigger deal but again death matches have always been a thing.
Sunday arenas could use a buff yea but I find it nice to have a break from arena every week. If they were to buff them I think adding a decent amount of gold/iso as the rewards would be decent instead of more units since it won’t seem like a must do arena for many, and since kabam has already said the unit payoff from arena is quite generous.
As far as it being a boring gamemode, that’s going to inherently be the case as it’s supposed to be a chill, easy, but repeatable game mode. If they made it interactive and engaging that means you have to pay attention to it and many grinders like to do arena as part of multitasking while doing something else. It also has to be somewhat repetitive unless you want a single arena match to take 15 minutes but adjust the rewards so it’s the same units earned per minute spent. But again that just goes against arena being a chill game mode.
It’s not a perfect game mode and there’s things I think could be improved but I also think it’s in a pretty decent place right now.
