I have both and I’d say it depends on what game modes you most care about. Scream will be faster for battlegrounds. Nefaria is better for most other aspects of the game. If you need an autoblock counter, take scream. If you’d like a fun science nuke who has good utility, take nefaria.
I like both of them tons. I know scream can shred and quickly kill compared to nefaria. The votes are even right now. lol. Better looking and much more fun champs feels like scream. But the voice inside tells me … don’t f it up. Nefaria is where it’s at…. Don’t pass on him. 😂
Scream can also work for aw and questing but nefaria is more versatile, safer Nefaria can also do bgs, but he's slightly slower on attack and decently good on defense due to his immunities.
Its totally your call, I have both at r3 and I would be pretty damn torn aswell...tho I did take scream r3 first as aw off season so I didn't have a immediate use for nefaria.
P.s. both like awakening aswell, scream has alot of utilities locked behind high sig and nefaria also becomes alot better with dupe so thats that

I don't think scream is a good idea for that, nefaria does relatively better. Here is my attempt on necro titania with r3, no boosts or synergies, this can maybe be better with iron man synergy to avoid unstoppables so thats very easy energy vulnerabilities on specials even during haymaker, he is not the best option either but definitely better than scream for necro.
P.s. duped scream can be better MAYBE if a skilled player who is very well with using her with perfect rotations and high sig for constant regen, but as of now, unduped nefaria solos, but again scream is way better even unduped in bgs.
Like you can see I took 48 hits, some of them being straight up sp2 to the face, but he is so good with resistance and sp1 heals, like @ThePredator1001 mentoned, he's science abs man but more fun, scream is basically just a nuke like CGR but she doesn't have a long form rotation like CGR does.

Scream counters everything that comes upfront. Sp1 sp2 95% fights are over or enemy survives with 5% HP, which is very cool.
Don’t worry about unfazed, it can be annoying when it triggers but it doesn’t stop Nefaria, his regen is crazy and he can heal back most of the damage he takes, plus if your in ionic overcharge he’s crazy tanky. Just adjust your playstyle if it happens. I use him constantly for BG and high tier AW and unfazed hasn’t been a big problem.
