Should you ever ban champs in your deck?

Hi, everyone, for the first time I didn’t ban enchantress and she was relatively easy, despite only being a r5. However, I have a 7 star variant and in my deck, and I was wondering, is it a complete waste to ban a champ that you have yourself in your deck?

Back in the early days I used too.

I would always ban Human Torch, and someone I cant remember. So HT would be in my deck, and I would ban him. Banning my own champs, who I wouldn't miss from the selection, meant I had slightly better odds at seeing something I want come up.

So really depends on the player.

The logic is that why do you take a champion e.g 7* to rank 3 only to ban the champion in battlegrounds den it's simply a waste of your rank up resources

So if both have the same difficult champions like serpent and both choose not to ban den it becomes RNG regarding who or both or neither gets to pick the champion in the selection phase

Thanks guys I guess I’ll TRY to not ban enchantress from now on. She is only r1 though, so she hasn’t taken up much of my resources for now. I guess I’ll just have to try to get used to fighting her. But what about if they have a much stronger variant of a champ that YOU have and you have no counters to? For example a maxed out r3 attuma and you don’t have a counter?

If you're only banning them occasionally (like maybe the oppos is a higher rank than yours) then its not too bad. If you ban them often then it's a waste of a spot in your deck as you're never utilising them

If you are facing a big roster - it’s not worth it. If the roster is limited and one of their few high ranked nukes or defenders are on my roster, then yeah. Strategically it makes sense if you have a deeper roster.

If enemy has only 4-5 7r3 then yeah I'm banning all of those r3 idc

But if it's equal deck then only what I don't have and Serpent ofc

I ban champs that I have. Especially if they are my opponents best defenders. Bonus - it reduces the amount of champs available in my deck so if I don’t have them ranked super high it gives me a better chance at those that I do.

Most of my bans are champs that I have gives a better chance to pull other champs I really want

It depends. Consider this you have a serpent in your deck but not a counter, while you're opponent has counters and serpent as well, In that case unless there's other defenders you need to worry about, you should ban serpent. Similarly sometimes the meta turns some champs into absolutely nightmarish defenders in that case both you and you opponent have them, you can sometimes strategically take those champs out of the equation to avoid risk

It depends how on how bad I am against them. Bullseye, I’m real bad with anyone besides Sinister.

I can take enchantress in this meta with Torch because smoulders stack so quickly.

If their champ is higher ranked than mine, that factors in too - 7r3 duped serpent will get banned at the expense of my 7r2 unduped.

And as others said, if I can crush the top of their roster because they’re new valiant, I will.

Assuming you have mostly good champs in your deck, as long as you and your opponent don't ban the same champs, you actually increase the chance of pulling the other champs in your deck. Not by a ton, but I have zero fear of baning champs that are in my deck.

I don't ban any that I have. If they are in my deck, I want them.
