Toughest 7* gem decision

I finished my 5th necro challenge and pulled a cosmic gem. My immediate thought was to save for maestro(just need 1 dkg piece and I’ll get thanos/maestor) I DO NOT plan on exploring necro….EVER. So essentially maestro will need an unnatural awakening. But I also want to r3 my serpent but I can’t seem to dupe him naturally. I’m beat. Is serpent meta enough to prioritize the gem?

    The way I approach these decisions is, assume you're going to dupe both of them sooner or later (even if you don't explore Necro, you will get another cosmic AG).
    So it's not whether you will dupe one and not the other, but which of them do you want to dupe today, and which sometime later.
    I find it makes the process less agonizing and less of a Sophie's choice that way.

    Flip a coin (heads maestro), tails(serpent).
    If you like the outcome do it, if U don't do the other option.

    The hardest part of this is if it’s heads it means do nothing with it, cuz I don’t have maestro yet :/

    I can see myself duping serpent immediately after it’s happened before to me. I might just send it with Serpent tho cuz he’s so damn cool and plus I wouldn’t be sitting on it.

    How did you find the Necro challenges? As someone who says you’ll never explore it, I’m curious.

    I did the one completion last year when it came out, haven’t not completed a single other path since then, but am curious about the Carina’s challenges themselves.

    Dimensional being I saved for last….its easily the hardest and most expensive one. I did very well for all the other ones, for culls Odin/serpent and hulk and juggs are mvps. I used an R3 Wong for 10 year(Hes op). 7* guilly and cbones carry the carinas. Look into colossus for mutants(I used a maxed out 6* he cheeses the whole thing!). And for dimensional beings Fanta and prayer(i dont have Chavez). But yeah the challenges are very worth it and if you play good it only takes time.

    I wouldnt use a gem on maestro.

    If you like serpent, use it on him. I'd argue serpent is a far more annoying defender than maestro and better as an attacker.

    My current decision is im going to use it on serpent if he isn’t awakened by the time my revive stash is ready for epoch. Thanks for all the feedback guys

    Toss a coin, heads for maestro, tails for serpent. When the coin is in air, you'll likely pray to get one of the outcome. That's what you gotta do.

    with finishing the full carina necro challenge, you should have 2 paths completed right ? You arent planning on getting necro fully explored atm, but you will get it done eventually. And if you truly hate necro that much (I think you should still finish it, that 100% rewards is still up to date nowadays and we are getting more and more r3/r4), just use the gem on maestro. His duped is nice to have on both offense and defense

    Maestro have defensive value while serpent have both offensive and defensive.

    Do whatever champ you like to play most and have fun with. Meta is temporary but having fun and enjoying is primary imo.

    Maestro doesn’t need the dupe. He’s been meta in BG since release and 90% of that time was when no one had him awakened. Serpent dupe is awesome and scales well at high sig so you can dump all cosmic stones into him without thought.

    Don’t halt the breaks on necro exploration completely. The deathless team is actually super OP for it.

    If it was a month or so ago, id take serp and feed him 200 sigs for prestige with overflowing sigs.
    Now I already got 5 sig 200s, I would give it to hype. That's just how people play the game differently.
    I'll keep my biased opinion of maestro to myself.

    I completely agree with the advice to go with your favourite.

    Serpent is better on attack.

    But I'd say that Maestro is underrated for attack. Just MM to build up your Neutronium, get to SP2, then spam SP1s. He's not super fast, but his immunities and Glancing mean he can take a load of tricky fights.

    I used maestro a lot to counter pesky FAM's. Sadly I have to take him out of deck.
