Are victory shields usable in GC?

I’m in gladiator circuit and just noticed the victory shield prompt disappeared. I suppose we aren’t allowed to use them in GC as that would make sense, but I can’t find anywhere that confirms this.

    Since GC is a point base, win you gain points and lose you lose points. Victory shield makes sure you don't lose your win streak so it's virtually useles in GC since maintaining your win steak doesn't stop you from losing points.
