Arena is becoming stupid

I don’t know how arena opponents are selected but when I go into a match with 3 r1 7*s (Mordo, Stryfe, and blade) and get matched with r4 max sig dark phoenix, serpent, and kushala(Kushala is fine just adding for completeness. I just don’t see how that’s winnable. Also seeing a maxed dark phoenix in on average 2 of every 5 arena rounds it’s just tiring. I don’t know if there is anything that can be done but as a mode arena has become brutal with the addition of r4s. The range of champs for the top arena has gotten too big to be feasible.

How many rounds are you doing with 7r1?

If you are using 7r1 in first few rounds and during infinity streak, you generally won’t get lopsided match ups. Overall minimum PI to avoid death matches has increased due to introduction of 7r4, so you do need to rank up your champions to keep pace

When im grinding for units i end up getting through all of my ranked up champs. Im not the biggest account out there but i have 31 7*s ranked up so i use at least 2 r1s just to get through my champs. if i do the 5 rounds of ramp that gives me 16 rounds in arena. Idk about anyone else but that not enough rounds to really build points. Are you saying arena now just for endgame bug accounts?

Also I ran into an issue where two of the shown champs were Dark Phoenix, so I selected the other option only to find her as one of the hidden champs there. Whats the deal with that?

rounds 9-16, 7*r2 and three or above only, then don’t drop below 7* r1 after, works.

6* became the new 5*, r5 classed out r3 on the 6*, 7* added; as stated, the safety ceiling for arena regularly shifts. nothing new.

It’s just the time for me, I’m not finding that I’m punching up but facing a R3 or 4 onslaught, DThanos, DPhoenix or bullseye just takes longer to play around them. The 18 second arena fights are long gone when I’m at a 10+ streak.

10-15 is definitely getting dodgier. Gotta plan around it these days.

My routine for arena fights that I've found to be foolproof FOR ME in every arena, is:

1) Sort by hero rating - highest at the top working down to lowest rating at the bottom.

2) I count 48 champs down and just start picking from whatever ranking that is and working up my roster.

3) When I get to win streak 8 (going into the 9th round) I scroll to the top of my roster/highest ranked champs and then start working down my roster.

4) By the time I get out the other side of 14-16 I find my lower ranked don't trigger death matches.

It may not work for everyone's roster, it certainly works for mine - but feel free to give it a go if you want.

If it doesn't work you haven't lost anything BUT if it does work you've gained the ability to get through arena more comfortably.

I just do r1 7* to win 8 then swap to r4s then r3s then r2 easy win streak

@winterthur can give excellent advice on the arena grinding with a less optimal roster. Above is his most recent post that he did, which is a few months old, but I'm sure he can give you some updates since the inclusion of more r4 defenders.

I suppose it is no longer an issue for OP.

I tried again using the method of using one lowest rank champ and managed to reach Round 13, where using highest champs and not lower than 6-Star R2, keeps the streak.

Full team R2 still works.
These six are lowest PI on roster.

Probably will try two R2 plus R1 next time.

Just start maxing out 4*s and ascending them for arena. Way shorter fights. Way faster units.
