You can have a lot more than 5 R4s right now as a pure FTP.
Probably like 10 and maybe even more if you're in a good alliance and are good in BGs and earn a lot of radiance.
While it's 1000% true, the Mets fan in me takes this as a personal attack 🤪
sounds like you need to get out more
Lol buying your way to the top.. can't out skill money in this game (you can to an extent but hey ho)
Okay lots of comments comparing an in-game PvP mode to a Real life Sporting Tournament. I compared this game to other games, other pixels, other virtual spaces..cos this game is a virtual space. Cos this is the right comparison. You cannot compare a players in-game account in this game to a real life sports team like lets say Real Madrid. Real Madrid has lots of money and will buy the best and skilled players and pay them fat salaries, thats a product of just how big the pocket of the owner is. Now here the organizing commitee of the football league cannot restrict Real Madrid too much but they do have a spending cap to avoid them from I guess getting all of the top tier talent in one team. The same happens in F1 too , each team has a fixed spending limit so that they do not get too much of an advantage. And here they let their engineering skills + the driver skills do the work to get to the top. Now coming to this game, Kabam controls the entire environment here, just like any other live service game developer. The very very successful games who have successful esports tournaments DO NOT give any advantage to any player. The highest spending team might have a bit more success but team chemistry is a thing and we are talking about raw mechanical skill and that can have human error. In MCOC, allowing more people to have more 4s is just straight up a big advantage cos its a flat number increase in health points and attack value. There is no "maybe" in this..its a numbers game. There is already RNG involved during drafting and you cannot do anything about that. That is another problem that a competitive mode should not have but I guess Kabam had to add it so they can balance it. I don't have an alternative to this so I won't raise any negative point about this. In any game basically if it has a PvP competitive mode, there should be an upper ceiling for how outrageous a deck can get..cos then there is just no chance to Out-skill that. If 2 skilled players go against each other, one who spends and one who does not spend much. If the spender wins is this really the right winner ? I don't think this is right. Thats just what I think. There should not be such a big advantage. Cos the looser then just loses the will to compete cos he knows he can never outskill money. I am seeing some posts bashing FTP players that they don't spend any money at all and don't support the devs and so they should not get anything and should not expect any special treatment. Well I cannot deny this but its a bit harsh to say this… This game is live in a lot of countries and it does not have regional pricing, this game is too expensive..actually much more expensive than the prices of entire games on PC , xbox or ps5. There are some light spenders out there who don't spend as much as the whales, but what has happened in this game is that, you need to spend a LOT to get to anything remotely valuable, like literally max out the sales event otherwise you end up with almost nothing. Light spenders just get left behind. So even if they spend 50$ monthly that almost gets you nothing in the end-game economy to compete in BG.
Complaining about low frame rate monitor and low gpu is like playing mcoc in a 2015 phone. You can buy an entire gaming laptop or a pc if you skip like 2 spending events in this game🤣 This is a real investment which helps you play other games as well..whereas this game..once the server shuts down its over. You don't OWN anything in this game. And also what makes you think getting a 240hz display with rtx 5090 is immediately gonna give you an edge ? It will give you an edge over the normal players by maybe 1-2 ms(which is almost nothing)..but you are still gonna be nowhere near the top. Skill is still the deciding factor in PC/Console games..its your raw reaction time. You cannot buy extra health points in an FPS game with money..which is whats happening in this game.
I can't believe we're still having these posts. Crazy.
First, while it takes a lot of skill (and free time/no life), you can certainly make it to Celestial (even C4) as an FTP or a light spender. Plenty of players do it every season (I even saw someone post a long list here last season).
But more importantly, while I have also struggled with frustration and resentment over the monetary rat race in BGs, I try to constantly keep this in my head:
Kabam runs the contest, and they don't run it because the Netmarble CEOs and shareholders really want to find out who is the most skilled MCOC player out there.
Kabam runs the contest to make money. That is it. Everything Kabam does has to feed into their one and only goal of making money.
A lot of players don't want to accept this because they invest their emotions (and sometimes identities) into their game performance, but as Marlo said:
Well you are right. I can ramble all I want but Kabam is not gonna change their ways..whether unfair or not. I just did not want people putting a blanket statement over the complaints of people playin BG and trying to address the fact how its become increasingly P2W recently.
Same complaint, same old response:
Equal playing field would be ok. But it would mean that for example if you're a cav who only wants to BG other cavs, fine, but then you should only be able to earn cav level rewards.
Keep in mind though that recent progression locked initiatives haven't really gone over well.
I'm FTP and I give thanks to the whales that spend in this game. However, here is also a different perspective.
If you want to piss off the whale, then meet him in competition despite the imbalanced roster. The whale wants you to forfeit so he doesn't have to waste his time. If you engage him in battle, you get a bit of experience with the likely loss and you piss off the guy you're annoyed at. Imo.
I think to avoid any misunderstanding about this game, Kabam should rename the game to "MARVEL CONTEST OF CREDIT CARDS" so players will know this game is about spending power not purely skill alone
You guys are really having illusions thinking you are entitled to win purely by skill alone, you are playing the wrong game
7* rank 5 is coming during banquet just to let you know
Don't let anyone fool you, there isn't a huge gap between r4 and r3. And now it's very easy to score r3 in the game. Your opponent has more r4s than you, but if you have the same amount of r3, and your dexterity is better than them, you can win very easily. Kabam, there isn't always a big difference between those who spend money and those who play for free. For example, those who pay only allow them to go one level higher. But to those who play for free, they distribute one level gold or r3 a lot, if they have good dexterity. If there's someone, let them beat them. By the way, the opponent you're matched with is a good player :))
Beautifully stated.. I really don't know why people are so toxic towards spenders in this game lol - congratulate, don't hate.. just makes people sound petty and rude, frankly
I would personally like to thank all the spenders (some of whom are my friends and alliance mates) for keeping the game I enjoy going, thank you
Haters, if you guys go to a gym.. do you expect management to limit the amount of weight someone can lift so every one can be equal? 😂
"Hey, you there.. remove that last plate so the guy who just started working out 2 months ago (as opposed to 2 years ago) can catch up to you!"
if whales want spend $$$ to boost up their roster, why be mad at ‘em. They’re ones supporting the game with spending. As a ftp I have just 3 r4 7*. Whenever I’m paired against someone who’s roster is beyond mine, I just the play the match and just let it roll. Whales are gamers who enjoy spending, but u can’t get mad b/c some have larger pockets. What’s dangerous than whales are whales with skills..
You bring up some good points and just to piggyback on them, I do think there is a fundamental incoherence in the radiance chase as it's currently set up.
Sure, some modest players like Nick136 are fighting for their life out there in Celestial (the life of their account I should say) and the radiance rewards are basically necessary for them to progress in any meaningful way.
But like most people who play near the top of BGs spend a lot of money, thousands of dollars. If you convert that cash loosely into radiance, it's probably tens of millions of radiance in purchased resources.
And what are they chasing? The top C1 spot is like 500k radiance, which is a big amount for FTPs and modest spenders, but for the big BG players/spenders, it's basically a horrible/laughable return on their investment.
So clearly they are not chasing the radiance per se. They are chasing what that top prize represents: victory, ego, pride, identity, "fame" (as absurd as that sounds in the context of a mobile game).
And none of those things are actually illogical, but then you have the elephant in the room.
Basically, it's like hey, if you care so much about competition, and you're spending all this time and money to be the best, then how do you deal with the fact that you are paying for huge advantages over 99.9% of the playerbase?
And this is where the ego comes in and shields the BG addict from identity crisis and says: "No, I won because of skill, the thousands of dollars I spend is just a necessary precondition for competing."
And Kabam knows all this and all of these psychological exploitations are built into the foundations of the game because at the end of the day, no executive at Kabam or Netmarble gives a flying f about who won the last season of BGs. All they care is that the biggest rats are competing and paying for the privilege of doing so.
Here's an example...
All r3s vs All r4s draft
Why do I have to keep pointing out to the fact there is no hate towards the whales. Whales are people with disposable income to spend on the game and they help keep the servers running. I am blaming Kabam for creating more spending opportunities for the whales which has widened the already existing gap between F2P and whales. It wasn't so bad at the start of this year. This year alone there have been like 3-4 more sales events than the last year..each one giving more opportunities for more rank 4s. The super grindy F2P were able to keep up to some extent by grinding hard and getting those units cos the max milestone was not that high up…Kabam moved the goalpost and made it much harder. And lets not forget the BG nukes like red guardian, human torch locked behind a load of cash. Your gym analogy does not work here..in a gym your gains are directly proportional to how much you work out and its all you..there are no external factors (You can adjust the weights when you hop onto something lol). You can train on whatever machine you want..this is not the same.
It's really amazing how every single analogy made by whale defenders are always horrifically wrong. These guys have to be trolling on purpose, there is no way they actually believe what they are typing
Well this has been a read.
Some people have stacked Accounts. They're in there.
Playing in the same competition means it's inevitable we'll come up against them at times.
Op ... you played the account that kabam tuned the monthly EQ too.
On another note ... all competitive sports favor people who spend money on the sport. Better equipment, coaching, practice. Does not guarantee a win but definitely provides an advantage.
I think about it this way, if you win versus a larger account, you will feel better then he will beating you.
And are you equally upset when you are matched with an account much weaker then yours?
pretty solid
solid picks
MCOC, as compared to other mobile games, is still more ftp/low spend friendly than a lot of them.. even with the ramp up in spend events - there are plenty of games where the gap is even larger
But, what I'll say is that in other games, different accounts can have different roles within an alliance, but in MCOC all 30 members must compete in the alliance modes in the same role.. so I'll acknowledge that it's harder to find a friendship/competitive balance when choosing who you play with
You'renot supposed to compete with that. It's a ladder system and some players have to lose in order for the stronger players to move up
Blue whale spotted
If Kabam wanted a level playing field and have BGs be based on skill and strategy, there would be 30 of the same ranks of the same champs available to both players for the entire season. Maybe shifting this for node changes. Could take or leave ban phase doing this, that would be somewhat irrelevant. But this would make the mode pure skill/strategy based, with the same RNG sprinkled on top.
But this would mean less $$ spent on roster rankups.
This Is a revenue problem. Pure and simple.
I'd be up for that for one season for nothing more than to put an end to these constant bg match up threads every season when the majority of these players still can't progress to where they feel they are entitled to be and realise it's not the whales that are holding them back from being in c5, it's their own lack of ability.
It'd make it interesting, but it'll never happen. It's a loss of money for kabam.
I can't see whales complaining about losing after spending thousands of dollars on their roster and not being able to utilize them, but that'd be funny as well if it happened.
I think the truly skilled and competitive player base, regardless of ftp or ptp status, would welcome this mode. I just don't see how kabam monetizes it.
