BGs preseason feedback

If you want people to stop using difficult defenders, I'm all for it. But the idea you put in place is a half measure.

1) the degen should be stronger and count as a % of max health. 10-15% of max health per second will discourage any non saga use. Also add the node that act 9 bosses have that disables any immortality for non saga champs so the likes of fury, serpent, dark Phoenix will not cheat this in any way

2) add a 5% degen of current health to non saga attackers to encourage saga use

3) since you have now limited the pools of attackers and defenders vastly, change the deck size to 20 with 2 bans. Also do some kind of event before the season that gives out like 5 1-2 rank up saga gems and a 2-3 saga gem. Nobody wants to be using 7r1s but a lot of these saga champs are not worth rankups

4) try this meta during next preseason with whatever extra simple nodes you want (like the dash in for fury, or maybe like evade 2 times to get a prowess or something that gives attackers extra damage)

Now we got ourselves something new and interesting

I need to play a few more matches but being already heavily tilted towards saga champs already provides a huge advantage to those with more developed rosters, or the financial ability to develop rosters quickly I.e., the whales.

Any further shift towards benefitting saga champs will only extend the gap between those with carefully constructed but limited rosters and those with the resource to do what they like.

Saga champs change regularly so we’d be fighting an even harder battle to keep up. I do see real benefits to promoting changing up battlegrounds decks as a way of keeping people interested, but I’m not sure this is the way to do it. At least not yet.

i get that but also my saga defenders are still dying faster than I can kill onslaught or serpent even with the degen, which is less and less each second. This meta doesn't discourage the use of god tier defenders enough to make it matter. Its a minor inconvenience

I believe is an interesting change and I've opted as of now to remove Serpent and Dark Phoenix from my deck. Any half decent counter and good counter for those are just exponentially better. I've had way more success putting half decent saga champs on defense and nuking non saga. I do believe this will change if I start facing more developed rosters with better saga defenders. Looking forward to other players opinions

Played my 5 matches for the radiance yesterday. This will be the dumbest season ever. The idea is ridiculous, if the opponent doesn't get a saga defender its pretty much an atena match, you get to sp2 and its pretty much over.

I’m not sure but same has happened to me. I was losing fights with scores in excess of 50k. I think the only saga champs I have as R3 or 4 were the good attackers (Karolina, pavitr, hulkling who would get banned most of the time). Was left with a bunch of R2 or R1 and some 6* for saga defense.

Now that I’m done with the 5 matches, that’s it for me.

Feedback is useless lately. If you don't like something they pretend it was ok, and if you don't like something they come up with a newer worse version.

These are the worst nodes I've seen. Whether there is a Saga defender or a Non-Saga Defender, the fury for the attacker drastically outweighs the defender node.

They've essentially taken the high level BG competition experience and inflicted it on casuals.

Whereas before casuals didn't need to worry about each and every single % health point loss, or worry about losing despite putting up 50k+ point rounds, now we get to experience the pain.

I’d love to know what the design goals actually are. This is nonsense. And the data will be artificially propped up by the fact that they created the radiance objective when they know everyone is chasing Magik, so people will slog through this nonsense anyway.

it’s definitely an interesting experience to beat a champ inside 30 seconds with 90%+ health, to do that on a regular basis, and still consistently lose matches!

I played 5 matches, I won by placing a saga defender, no matter how bad of a defender it was. All i had to do is parry combo, parry combo, dex a special, maybe if I feel sassy do an intercept and throw a SP2.... I got no idea if there was a defensive node at all...

Lots of >50K point matches. Would be nice if Saga defenders actually were decent defenders, but there are only a few who might trip newer players up.

This is the core issue. It’s an interesting concept to try and tilt the field away from the meta defender usual suspects. But in my five match experience, the saga defenders are so bad that the meta defenders can kind of hold their own — despite the degen or whatever it is.

This guy has got to have a whale account there is no way you make a suggestion like that and you're not a whale. If they're actually keeping saga control all they need to do is drop deck size to 30 and revert everything else they did this last season, and then add more defensive nodes so certain champs actually feel like a threat somewhat. It would've been nice if there was a protection intercept or protection knockdown or something somewhere in there because then certain champs like Beta Ray Bill and Jane wouldn't be completely useless at least they would stall a bit.

Also, I'd rather they don't phase out the usual suspects completely for a full season so that whole shutting down cheat death mechanics is a dumb idea too. They're already not the best defenders for the meta and that's how they should keep them not completely useless.

it's a preseason not an main boss of a main story mode
it is % based on current health lol - if u just stay away u will see the degen slow down as degen gets lower with health
40 for preseason (same as last) - season it will be 30 they said it already causing problem so preseason will end 1 hr early & a reboot needed lol , u want to add more bugs in the game ??
they have already planned for next 2-3 seasons lol

Maybe just build a black list for BG decks and come up with interesting nodes if you want to discourage specific defenders?

I’ve messed around with different play styles and combinations. Meta defenders still get nuked by the usual attackers and there are plenty of times the health loss from a non-Saga meta defender isn’t enough to offset.

Or they could achieve similar aims by using specific tags instead of saga tags. Sagas have always felt rather broad and random, so it’s just a crummy lever to pull when they’re trying to influence something like the player choices in BGs.

Im annoyed that the annoying saga tag mechanic has infiltrated bgs. Put all the annoying **** in GC and just keep VT simple.

i don't know if you know this, but a forum post is just for feedback. I don't expect them to hire me and implement my BGs idea obviously. It's meant to be for discussion. I'm sure other people have better ideas. And hopefully what someone says in this post may influence kabam to make some changes for the better. Thanks for your feedback though, greatly appreciated 👍🏻
