Carina Challenge is the best thing in MCoC right now!

...and that is extremely concerning.

Currently the only thing that CCPs are creating content for, players come together in a positive way, and something summoners look forward to each week is the current 6 Carina Challenge (and maybe 9.4).

The last drop of excitement from the MCoC community, are all from old contents,

* Odeal is buff (health and attack) version of Grandmaster Gauntlet, which was released in 2021 (5 years ago)
* Abyss is from 2020 (6 years ago)
* Epoch is from 2024 (2 year ago)

All the current new contents and changes:-

7* Ascension - An idea that the community was excited for until the real acquisition info drop. Now players are leaving because of it

Essentia - Again something players was excited about the idea of consolating the bloated currencies, until we realised the massive cut back of Essentia rewards, items purchase available, terrible conversion rate.

Mysterium - Acquisition schedule and amount is just random 🤷‍♂️

Twitch Drop - Missing, changing, convoluting and confusion

BG meta - Unplayable, Kabam "we are testing way that players would stop continue using the broken champions we designed, who would thought that was a bad idea". Top 10 BG players saying, hey that Meta is unplayable, Kabam, sure but we will release it for a Season anyway. On top of that surely reduce rewards will help participation

BG Unranked - What is the point, who it is for, who actually benefited from this?

Solo Coliseum - Essentially Epoch and one or 2 nodes more.

Alliance Coliseum - Players, CCP and whole community feedback, 3 days is bad thing, Kabam hear, Kabam continue with 3 days

Not even going to talking, Poker and DDR as well as AI issues.

Rebalance program is close and yet we are seeing champions abilities being changed more than ever.

So when was Kabam last New idea that actually got the community excited and hopeful for the future of MCoC.

The MCoC players eco is broken apart because of the extreme monetisation.

Communication - Empty mic (I'm not even blaming the community managers, when Kabam give you nothing to say, what can you say.

3 weeks left of Carina and a week of 9.4 excitement, that is about a month.

Can the next Sales really bring MCoC back to life? 🤣🤣🤣

While I agree that I don't like the direction the game is going, to play devil's advocate on a content level: Is there anything truly different now compared to then?

You mention the exciting old content being from 5, 6, and 2 years ago. But is the lag time drastically different now compared to then?

For example, Now you are complaining that the last exciting content was 2 years ago (Epoch) in 2024.

But Then in 2024, the last exciting content was in 2021 (Ordeal), which is 3 years ago from 2024 - a longer lag time in excitement of 3 years compared to 2 years.

Additionally, I don't remember when the prior Carina challenges were dropped, but they also (1) Repurposed old content, and (2) There likely wasn't 'new exciting' content around the time period they dropped.

Yes, there are lots to complain about this game, and subjectively if feels like there is more to complain about this game. But I dunno if content releases and things to be excited about are drastically different compared to the past.

I think I might not articulate myself clearly in my original post, for which I apologise.

Massive warning, dyslexia guy, writing extremely long post on a mobile phone, it will not end well, feel free to ignore the post, or even better just Select Ignore me from my profile 🤣

Firstly - I actually do not mind Kabam recycled older content. I remember when AW showcase was first introduced, @Kabam Crashed explain the positive of re-using content in new ways, reduce resources while generating new content, and I fully support that idea.

Secondly - I think the Carina Vol 4 and qualification for the Elder progression title is an amazing concept and implemention. In my opinion it is perfect and balance in all aspects.

The Carina Challenge test the players skill

The requirements of 3 x R5 7* is fair

The rewards is balance, ensure that players can either achieve it through skill and playing the game or with some extra purchased

The announcement and implementation is spot on, enable players to plan in advance and the community be excited about it.

The only thing that are missing are the benefits of the Elder progression title (apart from mobility scooter) 🤣.

Thirdly - This is where my concern is, it is not the lack of new ideas, to the contrary, Kabam have implemented a lot of new ideas and changes, but the concern is that the new ideas are not working, it feel like it going in the wrong direction, not achieve what Kabam and players would want, which essentially lead wasted resources both in term of time, staffs resources and players time and money.

Here are some examples of Great Idea at the start, but destroyed by questionable monetisation, implemention and/or communication.

7* Ascension - When this was announced, I feel like the whole community felt it was a great idea. The ability to continue level up your rosters (still chasing and growing) without restarting. While Kabam can manage damage control of the poor Champion Def design over the last few years is wonderful idea, great, players excited to know more.

Kabam announced this at the Brawl, I assume ealier than planned to manage the damage and extremely low players sentiment and create excite before the big Banquet sales, which it work.

However, by the time full details was announced, what we have was community outrage, all excitement and positive sentiment for the game went out the window. It was an equivalent of releasing 8* with exclusivity for spenders (extremely big spenders) for a year. So a great idea destroyed by extreme monetary priority.

Alliance Coliseum - Great idea, a space to utilise those ramp up champions, something different to BG.

Again another great idea that got ruined by in this case I would say petty monetisation and the reason is this.

How many players actually spend money to upgrade their Podium, while the 3 days Alliance Coliseum is short, most players (and Alliance) would achieve the Solo and Alliance milestones, of course they would have to grind but it still in the rang of "achievable" enough not to spend.

However the 3 days is short enough and inflexible enough to cause discontent to the players.

Essentially Kabam is chasing pennies at the cost of losing their customers.

So the question is why would Kabam implemented it that way, it doesn't generate money but cause dissatisfaction to their customers, that is a lose lose situation.

Essentia - The idea of consolidating the bloated Currencies and Store in MCoC, is a wonderful idea, great for both players and Kabam, something that players asked for and looking forward it.

Got completely ruined by:-

Poorly design and implement, including item costing, item availabilities and conversion limited, this is clear at the start of the launch, and thankful Kabam were quick to implement changes and corrections (some of which the community still unsure is enough). The question there is how did Kabam team thought their original calculations was fair, balance and correct?
Poor communication - Before Essentia launch, Kabam stated that one of the key gold was to keep the players well informed during the implementation of Essentia, and we all know what happened there. Players for all level which various access to Kabam insight, was completely lost and confused at the remove of various stores and purchase options. Again how did this happened? Even right now players are questions amount of Essentia rewards in various game modes.

I'm sure there are more...

New Ideas that are Pointless:-

BG Unranked - Create a space to enable players with small accounts to still participate in BG witb better matching, the reality is something completely different.

Lower level players are now locked out from Ranking BG, only able to access Unracked with very limited rewards, and yet matching is still wildly out.

Dimensions Arcade - Apparently this is to reach a different group of players.

But who and why?

Why trying to reach another group of players, while at the same time turn off your core players.

Same can be said about Poker MCoC.

I do think that Kabam need to find way to bring new players, but that should be through simplified the start of an MCoC player journey, the game is so complex and such a massive leanring cure. It is hard to imagine new players join, stay and start spending big.

Whatever Kabam plan is to grain more new players, Arcade and Poker isn't too. Just wasted resources and time, and very questionable that Kabam think this would be a good idea in the first play.

There are so many more…but let face it, the community know all about it, no need for me to reiterate it.

You are most likely right, the game have always been up and down like this. But I guess for me, I feel like that last real excitement about the future of the game was the launch of Necropolis, and it was just about the Quest, it was everything around it.

The idea of Realm, bringing the community together.

The feeling that Kabam focusing rewards through gameplay rather than just sales.

Communication from Kabam was more direct, appreciating @Kabam Crashed popping in with his insight.

The game felt positive with a bright future.

Again, I'm really excited and positive about Carina Vol and Elder progression (hope there are benefits with the title) right now, but concern what after that.

I want Kabam to make money, lots of it for a long time, I want MCoC to do well, with an amazing positive, excited community, I believe that Kabam want thsi too and are working hard to achieve it. It just baffling with some of the things Kabam is doing right now.

The carina vol2 were enforced for the Paragon title. They also made a mockery of 10k unit deal for whales and made f2p grind out massive vol 2 carians. One of the biggest Ls of that time. I hit Paragon 2 months later. The irony was I bought the 10k unit offer even before they released paragon requirements. Took 50+ dual crystals to pull 5* knull for come out to play + half a round 2 of sop.

Valiant was similar: Either do Necro Exploration OR Necro completion + Spend 21k units on cyber deals or just drop money.

Thronebreaker was: Do abyss completion run or explore act 6.

Titles are mostly associated with content other than story.
