The influence of the Grandmaster continues to twist and grow the Battlerealm, producing new and exciting features. It’s time to introduce, the 5-Star Featured Hero Arena!

Starting with the next round of Arenas on February 15th, there will be a new 5-Star Featured Hero Arena! This Arena will allow you to take newly acquired 6-Star Champions alongside your 4 and 5-Star Champions and fight for 6-Star Shards and a 5-Star Featured Hero!

This Arena will allow you to use your 4-Star, 5-Star, and 6-Star Champions to compete to be one of 150 Summoners that will take home the 5-Star Featured Champion.

Let’s Breakdown the Basics

The 5-Star Featured Hero Arena will run on the same schedule as our other Featured Hero Arenas, and will be available to all Summoners at Level 40, or over! There are no Beginner or Intermediate Brackets for this Arena.

This will be your first chance to use 6-Star Champions in Arenas, so here’s what you need to know:

- 6-Star Champions have a cooldown of 12 hours, or 20 units to refresh
- A Base 6-Star Champion will award around 3x the points of a Base 5-Star Champion

The cost to look for a match in this new Arena will be 500 Gold per matchup.

You can earn Rank Rewards after hitting the 1 million point milestone, and earn yourself some 5-Star and 6-Star Shards!

The Top Summoner for Each Arena will also take home the Arena Champion Title, which is also still available in the 4-Star Featured Hero Arena. The Title is the exact same as the one in the 4-Star Featured Hero Arena, and will stack with those. As a reminder, these are the Titles you can earn for Placing 1st in the Arena:

WARBOUND: Earned by placing 1st in a 4-Star or 5 Star Featured Hero Arena once.
DESTROYER: Earned by placing 1st in a 4-Star or 5 Star Featured Hero Arena 3 times.
LIVING WEAPON: Earned by placing 1st in a 4-Star or 5 Star Featured Hero Arena 5 times.
SUPER SOLDIER: Earned by placing 1st in a 4-Star or 5 Star Featured Hero Arena 10 times.
GOD OF WAR : Earned by placing 1st in a 4-Star or 5 Star Featured Hero Arena 25 times.
WORLD BREAKER: Earned by placing 1st in a 4-Star or 5 Star Featured Hero Arena 50 times.

Miike - what's the plan for when the Featured champ is one that hasn't been made available as a 5*? Will the 5* Featured Arena change to a different champ, or does that mean we'll NEVER see one of those champs as a Featured Arena champ ever again, even in the 4* Arena?

What I meant by that is they scale in PHC amount based on the Arena. It's still the same Crystal/Shards throughout. Think about it. If this Arena gave 3/4/5/GMC Shards, people wouldn't bother much with the others. The focus of the Arena is not the Milestones. Never has been. It's the Rewards. We don't rely on the Cryatals from Milestones. Units, perhaps.

Especially when you do the math. Multiply that by the number of Arenas a month, it adds up over time. It all goes into progression overall.

Mate, 2000 5* shards are not anything to top players. The 6* shards will be as they build up, but everything else aside from the featured champ is peanuts compared to top players.

No one is at a point in the game where they're above 5* Shards.

Folks, since this is geared towards the big money spending minority, they won’t change a bleeping thing. They created this arena for the same reason they updated aw: to create a new revenue stream and to keep the big boys from getting bored.

@Kabam Miike I ask you one question: since update 12.0 was touted as a necessity to maintain balance, how does the utilization of Kabam resources to create an arena targeting the top x% demonstrate balance?

Lol what are you talking about. 4000 5* shards a week is huge and more 5* shards = more 6* shards. If you get your 5* shards and 6* shards by spending odins every week on grandmaster crystals then so be it, this arena would be nothing to you. But a natural progression needs to be had and this arena is a nice bump-up from the previous.

Everything is peanuts to the top players. In fact, in any game where any reasonably repeatable reward is not peanuts to the top players, someone in the dev team broken their calculator.

Why don't you just stop sticking up for Kabam constantly?

The 5* arena shouldn't have PHC anywhere near it mate, let's be realistic.

Maybe not GMC but at least 4* shards in the milestones, the units are terrible too.

Another thing is why not a 5* basic arena? They want to make 5* more available and are scared to give out too many 5* champs, hence there being no 5* basic arena.

This is only happening due to the stupid changes to the feature crystal, instead of waiting 12 weeks for the champ to enter the feature crystal, come spend some odins in arena, if you miss out just remember... go spend more odins on featured GMC crystals.

All these new things do, is benifit Kabam with money, nothing about helping the players or for the players.

The logical reason for not having a 5* basic arena is to create a delay between when a 5* champion appears in the featured arena and when it appears in the basic arena. For at least as long as the intended delay, there can be no 5* basic arena. That's separate from the decision on whether to have one. Whether you have one or not, it would not be a good idea to launch it at the same time as the featured one. I wouldn't expect to see a basic arena for at least six months.

If that's how you want to look at it, that's entirely up to you. All I see is a new Arena, one that people have been asking for since long before the changes to the Crystals were announced. They released it after, yes. No doubt because people were wondering where else they could get 5* Featured Champs. If you see that as some type of lucrative plot, that's up to you. As for the PHC, I've already explained why it's consistent and fair. They aren't likely to replace them with 4* Shards because that would offset other systems. Milestones are PHC across the board for Champ Arenas. They're not the focus of the Arena. No idea why people are personally offended by that. The Arena is open to anyone over Level 40 but the Rewards are only accessible to those that can put up the Points.

I should also point out that this arena isn't happening because of the changes to the 5* featured crystal, rather a whole bunch of related changes are happening for a single root cause. There's a tiny bit of chicken and egg to it, but ultimately it comes down to the fact that 5* champions were not going to become more available unless 6* champions displaced them at the top of the food chain. As rank up materials became more common, players were beginning to max out their 4* rosters much quicker, prompting Kabam to increase 5* shard availability, prompting them to begin the process of bringing 6* champions into the game, which also prompted them to start reducing the need for 5* champions to be the top pursuit goal. That led to Kabam changing the way they dealt with 5* featured and basic champion schedules, accelerating adding 5* champions to the basic crystal. The increase in shard availability caused them to revisit the design of the 5* featured crystal within that new higher availability.

5* featured arenas are a separate logical consequence of the introduction of 6* champions. They aren't caused by the 5* featured crystal change, both changes are consequences of 5* champions no longer being the top pursuit goal in the game.

I'm not going to wade into the GMC vs PHC argument, but I do believe after studying the milestones carefully that a case can be made they are set too low for reasons that have nothing to do with what players believe is appropriate to them.

The PHC shard milestone rewards for the 3* featured arena start at 500 and then jump to 1000 per milestone for most milestones. In the 4* featured arena they start at 1200 and jump quickly to 1800 for most milestones. That is a significant increase from 3* to 4*. Without any other information, a reasonable guestimate for the appropriate increase in milestone rewards would be for the 5* featured arena to award something like 2500-2800 shards for the first milestone and step up to about 3200-3500 shards for the successive milestones, if we were trying to keep similar proportions. That's significantly more than what it actually awards.

But there's an additional supporting argument. If and when a 5* basic arena comes out, we would expect the milestone rewards for the basic arena to be lower than the 5* featured arena and higher than the 4* featured arena, consistent with the 4* basic arena milestones which are currently 1000 to 1600 shards, in between the 3* featured and the 4* featured arena milestones. At the current level of 1500 to 2000 shards per milestone (the cost of a full crystal) there's almost no room to squeeze the basic arena milestones in there.

The basic 5* arena doesn't exist yet, and there's no specific announced plan to add it, but it is still logical to assume that there should be enough separation between the 4* featured and the 5* featured to include one in theory.

Although I'm not going to specifically argue for or against GMCs in there, I will say that the milestone rewards for all arenas are relatively low, and the important thing in any event is not the individual rewards but the cumulative ones. In effect, the 5* featured arena has 200 5* shards as a milestone reward at one million points, because everyone who reaches that milestone is guaranteed that reward, just at the end of the event. Whether you get the reward as a milestone or as a guaranteed rank reward shouldn't really matter, same as for all the other arena events. Taken as a whole, the *net* rewards for participation are pretty good up to one million. After that, its all about the players that want to take a shot at the higher rewards. My guess is that 500 5* shards is reachable for most grinders, and even 1000 5* shards is probably reachable for good grinders. Whether I get those as milestones or reachable rank rewards isn't important to whether the rewards overall are good or bad. They seem to be pretty good. In fact the 5* shards that seem to be reasonably available (and even the 6* shards that don't look too terribly out of reach) are much better than any amount of GMC shards I thnk we are likely to squeeze out of the devs for milestone rewards.

Drop in a boost you can probably get 180-200K per round just refreshing those 3 6* champs.

Seems like anyone with 3 6* champs will be able to set the market rate for a 5* featured, wonder what it will be... 3 or 4 Odins?
