Game went down during master rift

I entered a master rift and had done a few fights. The game went down for maintenance. When it was back up my rift had expired and I no longer even had the shards to try again. I submitted a ticket but all I received was form letters explaining all games go down at times. I tried again and still no answer to my question about the rewards for the rift or at least my shards being returned. What can you do?
