Whiffing multiple attacks with iceman

In AW I just lost my iceman because he whiffed multiple attack through rogue... how is this possible?
Following fight I used Magik and she had no problems with hits connecting, actually it was a flawless fight.
Yet again another weird incident that has no viable explanation.... so can I get an explanation as to why something like this happens? What is with the inconsistency?
