OG Iron man sp2 not connecting

I've recently got a 4* iron man and tried using his sp2 after an MLLLM combo..
I tried several times but it was blocked.. Anyone else experiencing this?

    Been like that for a while. I've had more luck using sp2 after a combo if you activate it as soon as last hit just touches the enemy

    most of the times, but apparently it connects when you throw it as soon as you do your last hit
