Remove master difficulty key from event quest

I don't have the need to do heroic anymore. It takes up so much time to fully explore heroic just to get to master and fully explore that plus uncollected. I only want to do master and uncollected but I'm forced to go through heroic like a prerequisite and it's quite annoying even frustrating at this point wasting energy and units.

For 300 units you can buy the key from the store and bypass Heroic.

    Thanks Kabam!!

To be fair though, we have a month to do it. There is more than enough time to go through literally every difficulty without using units. I know because I do it every month.

Make a pass during breakfast (about 7am), request energy help. - 70 energy used
    Go to work
Make a pass at lunch (about the time the energy is filled up again). - 70 energy used
    Go back to work
3rd pass after work is done, request energy help again - 50 energy used
Use energy as it's available until bed at 11pm. - 80 energy

You can get as much as 270 energy per day without disrupting normal work/sleep schedules. Doing this typically leaves me a few days to play through other quests.

Doing this generates almost 600 units which is then spent on energy refills to crush Act 5.

In my profession playing during lunch time isn't really possible. It's the only moment you see the other employees and not building a relationship with them is just a career killer.

And that's if you work at a school where they still do teachers lunch. If you're at one of those schools where you stay with the kids all say playing a game like MCoC would be a fireable offense.

Just saying, 270 energy isn't doable for everybody. That it doesn't disrupt your daily schedule doesn't mean it won't affect mine.

    @FineDog if you're uncollected

I just use a maxed team of god tier 3* to do heroic and earn my master key. I don't grind arena enough to be swimming in units and I'm too stubborn to buy something that can be earned for free with a reasonable amount of time and effort. Using the 3* just helps to keep it more interesting since 2 hit wins with maxed 4* is fast, but tedious.

This is why they do it.

They may be crunching some numbers...seeing how many fewer people did Heroic last month, since we didn’t have to. Then check to see what sort of financial impact that may have had. They know where units are spent, so they should be able to determine that. Hopefully, if they are doing this, the numbers encourage them to just do away with the key. But who knows.... Another thing they could do is lower the unit cost of it. They could also put a key in arena rank rewards, give people a couple other avenues....

I don't know how much money would be lost, aside from buying some energy refills. Heroic is a joke if you're Uncollected. Just a time crunch.

I used the master key to complete and ran through Heroic. First month ever I didn't feel burned the hell out by the end of week 2.

One suggestion is that the Master Key could be granted on completion of heroic, rather than on exploration. If it's a test of ability, that requirement has surely been met without having to complete the level several times over.

I can't be on during lunch because it's only 30 mins. Most sites I work at I can't even be on my phone because I do security and I also go to school. The only time I get is when I'm home and not writing a paper.

Totally agree it's time to remove this. Idk if maybe this made sense at one point in time when it was implemented, but it doesn't seem to serve any purpose at this point outside of requiring players to spend units needlessly. Sure we can complete all difficulties within the allotted time frame, but why make it a requirement? Even moving it to completion instead of exploration would be a reasonable compromise if they won't remove it entirely.

Moving it up completion wouldn't be bad at all. I could totally work with that.

I agree with the OP. I mean, it seems really silly to have the difficulty ABOVE it open but still have to move down two in order to unlock the Master difficulty. I say if you're Uncollected, they're unlocked, and if not, it's locked. Easy solution.

Or even have Master open to those that are Uncollected and have the Uncollected locked until you complete Master. But needing to complete 3 full runs of the entire thing to 100% when you're really only after the rewards of the top 2 difficulties is frustrating.

Yes, the key exists. I don't think it's a reasonable solution.

Or also put a key into the uncollected difficulty. That way master still isn’t open right away (no clue why that’s important, but it seems to be for Kabam) but for people not wanting to do heroic there is another option (that doesn’t cost 300 units).

    I like that @Gwendoline , I think that's a great solution.

I don't disagree with any of the above. I do think it's a bit out of whack if you're already uncollected. In a way, it's like locking the 4* Featured Arena until you hit the milestones of the 4* Basic. Why force us to grind through something we don't want to do? Like I said above, we do have all month to do it, but that's a horrible excuse to force later-stage players into doing it (especially since we have one full map more of quests available).

Several very good suggestions above and I would be ok with any of them.

Really like the idea that if you're Uncollected then Master starts as unlocked but then it has the key to get into the Uncollected difficulty.

Who buys the key besides the 24hr a day crowd? The, "I get free units group"..then Who? As a casual to medium core uncollected ×2 accounts guy I never buy the keys. I stoped doing EQ recently so they get nothing from me. Ill return if they drop the key requirement then I'll spen spend 300 units on energy to complete x2 master difficulty...Costs could be offset it the game was better.
