Okay. Now, I get that people can express their views, but the expectations are just a bit out of whack. We were told not to expect large amounts of Shards or Awakeneing Gems. It's literally impossible to make everyone happy. They've made an effort to include as many situations as possible by allowing us to select Packages. Honestly, I don't get how it never fails to happen.
Regardless of the discontent, I'm just going to say "Thank you.". Been around long enough to know that some people are never satisfied and won't think it's enough no matter what is put out.
Well, if time on the forums is apparently enough to give you credibility, please sit down and let the guy who’s been here for nearly four years since beta do the talking, m’kay?
Coming from the guy who was just complaining about how the adaptoid in monthly was “too hard”, it’s pretty rich to see you lecturing us about “not being able to make everybody happy.”
I agree that mob mentality is dangerous, but your insistence on refusing to join the mob mentality has blinded you to the fact that, sometimes, the mob is right.
Not only is this gimped from last summoner appreciation, kabam has also decided to act as if this is compensation, as if we’d have gotten even less than this pittance if it weren’t for the overheating issues. This is pathetic.
Sure, you can’t satisfy everyone, but kabam’s done a great job of not satisfying anyone. Just look at the stats for once; people have calculated exactly what everyone lost from the month of not being able to play, and this doesn’t scratch the surface.
And don’t tell us we should accept it because kabam told us to expect it. If someone tells you they’re gonna steal from you, you shouldn’t be okay with it when it happens because “well, they told me they would.” A wrong isn’t less wrong just because it’s expected. Funny how that works.
Just to clarify again: I’ve been around longer than you, and I’ve seen the vast majority of people satisfied in the past when kabam actually owns up to their mistakes and compensates us. This is NOT one of those times. Give me ANY statistic that proves that this is suitable compensation. I dare you.
Just remember to not get caught up with the troll. He'll drag it off topic and the thread will be closed.
Could it be that it's not being clearly described as "compensation" for overheating issues to not invite a class-action suit by publicly acknowledging fault in what I'm sure is 6 or 7-figures in device damage worldwide?
They also waited til friday to announce it, and will now avoid answering anything til monday hoping we will all cool down over the weekend. Then next week they can just roll it out and act like its all good in the hood

EXACTLY !!! They are COMPLETELY covered up ! No transparency whatsoever

Seems unlikely to not be a tactic of some sort.
Would an apology or calling something compensation create exposure for them? I don’t know. It’s an interesting speculation.
The more I think about it, the weirder this all seems: it’s an appreciation event, but much shorter and weaker than previous ones, it took weeks to devise but seems poorly-conceived, it’s an approach unlike those taken for similar game performance problems in that it requires the players to “earn” a good part of their apology, it’s marketed as appreciation not as compensation/restitution...why?
Whose idea was this? Do any of the player mods feel willing to offer a defense of it? Can anyone explain the rationale and alternatives that were rejected in favor of it?
Did my eyes deceive me because I deleted it so fast I just couldn’t help it: summoner appreciation will be for one week only? Hasn’t it been a full month for 2 yrs? Someone please tell me what they said we would be getting in a week
Apparently this is the proper place for this comment, and not a new thread....
This event seems to be just another Appreciation Event similar to others that have run around this time in past years.
But in the SA Event Discussion thread, a moderator seemed to suggest that this event is intended as compensation for the the flaw in MCOC that caused varying degrees damage to what sounds like thousands of players' devices.
It would be very helpful to have the intention of the Appreciation Event clarified. As a normal regular event it's fine and deserves some consideration in return, as compensation for a major issue, it's a terrible insult to affected customers.
For context, my personal experience with the overheating issue that I lost about 4-5 hours of daily battery time on my phone and had a few MCOC crashes over the period of the overheating issue. Tablet battery life and was used too seldom to have an obvious battery life impact but it crashed more than my phone so was unlikely to escape unaffected.
I had a similar thought—namely, that this is the Appreciation component mentioned in Miike’s posts last week and that the “compensation/restitution” component is coming later. It is possibly the only thing that would make this all make sense.
Honestly I'm fine with it. A little bummed it's only a week long with my work schedule and the rest of life I'll realistically be able to enjoy any benefits for two days. The thing that upsets me most is Act 4 dropping to 2 energy. Why not 1? That act still takes SO much energy.
Shows how much they truly appreciate us, right nos they’re squeezing every penny from the whales, before they close the game down. Or at least that is how it looks with the game, and the management of both it, and the forum team drastically on the decline. At least way back when they’d listen to the community, balance and fix the game without adding new bugs. Nowadays its emergency maintenance, bugs, server crash, bugs. And all the forum moderators do now, is hide, and delete posts, and warn the users. Even they can’t communicate anymore. There is nothing at all appreciative or compensating about this package, and both the game, and the forums are just declining.

Good luck with that. The EULA basically releases them from all liability.

Halls of Healing should be free from energy consumption, ...
pretty sure it is...
"Halls of Healing: The Summoner favourite Halls of Healing event is coming back! Keep your Champions in the fight with these special Quests which are loaded with low to high level Potions and Revives for both Quest and Alliance content! The Halls of Healing will be open for 24 hours on alternating days this week and will not cost you any Energy!"
If this is just a summoner appreciation, it's fine and appreciated. 100%. Thank you.
If this is supposed to be a compensation package for the months of extreme issues, that would be very bad imo. It doesn't do enough to compensate for 19/overheating/frequent outages/bugs.
Agreed if this is just appreciation then by all means awesome! Based on what Mike said, however, I suspect this is part of the "compensation"
Yes, the Summoner Appreciation week and the included Summoner Appreciation Gift are what we've been referring to in discussions about compensation.
Hmm. An earlier statement by @Kabam Miike implied that Kabam sees "compensation" as "not being about free stuff" and explicitly intended to compensate for direct losses due to problems or outages. This would seem to imply that all compensation packages would be explicitly referred to as compensation packages and explicitly state what they were specifically attempting to compensate for. However, the SA announcement doesn't announce itself as a compensation package, and doesn't specify what if anything it is intended to compensate anyone for. That seems inconsistent with prior statements.
Moreover, "summoner appreciation" events are obviously intended to show appreciation, by giving players something over and above what they would normally get out of the game in terms of rewards or progress. If the SA is being used to compensate for losses, then it shouldn't be treated as something "extra" but rather Kabam's honest attempt at giving back to players what they might have lost due to errors on their part. And that means there is zero appreciation being conveyed by that.
If I give Kabam extreme benefit of doubt, far above what I find reasonable, I can choose to interpret the announcement as being a combination of summoner appreciation and compensation by having some aspects of the event be SA components and some - for example the optional choice gift - be a kind of selected compensation package. However, even if I do that, the whole idea of combining an appreciation gift and a compensatory reimbursement into a combined thing is complete madness. That would be like your employer giving you a Christmas gift that included a card and a paycheck they forgot to give you last month. The card being the gift part. That will get you featured on Reddit.
To me, this seems to be a failure in terms of appreciation, compensation, as well as messaging. I cannot imagine that no one in the loop on this announcement didn't anticipate extremely high blowback from it. And even when you factor all emotional responses out, it seems objectively broken as well.

Dr. Zola
Given what it is, it shows they really don't appreciate their player base that much and they don't think there were that many harms done.
Good luck with that. The EULA basically releases them from all liability.
