Where would rank Starlord in the current meta of the game?

He has no immunities, his special 2 is random in its effects, and he requires extreme ramp up on his combos to create high damage output.

However, his damage output is quite possibly the best in the game if a combo can be maintained.

So, given the current meta of the game with champs like Aegon and a synergy Winter Solider creating arguably superior duplicates of the combo damage dynaymic, where would you rank Starlord?

He's still one of the first champs in my questing team when AQ isn't running.
Besides AA (hindered by bleed/poison immune) and cap IW I don't have anyone that ends a fight faster

That's only counting offensive champs. SL is a relic.

Again saying champ x is better than champ y is never a fair comparison.

I use SL for every map 5 and he's great. He ran 2 lol paths for me very easily (except for maestro).

SL has far better offensive capability than most champs in the game but he lacks utility. He's a hammer and as long as you have a bunch of nails to beat in, he's a top 10 champ.

He’s fallen out of favor for better tech and just better champions overall, not bad but not anything spectacular with no utility

I’d love a SL lol, but I don’t think he’s top 10 anymore, perhaps top 20

I use him all the time. He's great against basically everyone and isn't dependent on certain situations to be effective. No worries about class disadvantages, immunities or synergies.

I would say it depends. The only great thing about SL is his sig ability: you need to get him duped, get it very high & be able to maintain your combo. If you're a medium-skilled player who hasn't have the luck to dupe him and not that good in maintaining combo's, he's only good as arena fodder. I do think older players exaggerate his place in the meta because they are so used playing him but objectively speaking, he's no better than Wolverine. He certainly isn't god tier to me.

I still love him and now he has a synergy with my maxed Aegon! Come on still top ten and if u need labyrinth still having him paired with Aegon is like a “cheat code!”

He's no better than Wolverine? Sorry but that's absurd. Not being duped is irrelevant. The question wasn't whether SL was good unduped. Not being able to play a champ well doesn't make the champ not good. Good luck destroying LOL and act 5 with Wolverine.

I haven't seen anyone use Star-Lord in AW since forever. Raw damage just doesn't cut it anymore

You could say similar things in general about pretty much all of the top tier champs. In fact, that almost certainly explains why Angela was datamined to be the most commonly used 5* champ. She takes no special skill to leverage her abilities. She's just a swing and hit bruiser. But champs like Corvus, Sparky, Ghost Rider, Void, and similar all require specific skills and knowledge of how the champs function to master.

I would like to get an Ægon to pair with mines.

I think most people rate him lowerbecause it takes more “skill” to maintain a streak.

The MD nerf made Star Lord somewhat relevant for AW again. Other champions (Sparky, Ghost, Proxima) hit hard enough to end all non-LOL fights within 3 minutes without needing to keep a combo going.

There aren’t many situations you can’t pummel your way out of with SL. He’s got fewer exceptions that some of the other champs people have listed here, and arguably requires less skill.

SL can be used for a lot of things other than LOL. He hits like a truck his L2 causes crazy damage and yes he can't control the affects like power drain and shock but either of these things will hurt a opponent. Also the fact he doesn't proc all these buffs the new champs have can also help in fights. He is still a amazing champ I use very often

Only good for lol. No utility, just damage. If you can clear something with star-lord, then you can clear it with anything else, it will just take more hits

Okay, would you take an unawakened SL to LOL? No, nobody does that. SL is the only champion that goes from trash to god when awakened.

I would say Wolverine unawakened is better, at least he has very nice bleed.

I believe a champion to be top-10 to be good when freshly pulled and in the hands of a reasonably good player. It should be a champion that is good for all content, not only for the very best and highest.

Angela doesn't rely on keeping your streak. Not everybody can do that. Figuring out a champion is not nearly as hard as that. Normal people slip up, get hit. Is SL that impressive with only 20 or 30 hits on the combo meter? Not really.

thats not true.
maybe you can handle a 100 hit fight no problem which is wat starlord will do.
but if the fight is going to last for 150+ hits maybe you will suffer from fatigue and struggle.
not all players can handle long fights as well as some can.

personally not for me.
Medusa and CAIW are my go to.
CAIW has all the utility you could need and the insane damage on his sp2 ends most fights quicker than SL would IMO.

There needs to be a better option. I'd say borderline top 20, but people act like that's bad nowadays.

So the knock on SL is that “all he does is hit hard” that’s kinda true. But for most fights when clearing paths that’s all you need. I used him in many 6.3 paths. He makes those 300k health + fights end pretty quickly. Sustained damage per second IS a utility. And he’s one of the best in that particular utility.

And as far as war goes. Soloed a r5 IW boss in t2 yesterday in 120 seconds.

The "meta" seems to be more and more about utility these days rather than raw damage and, while Star Lord has great damage, he's lacking in any kind of utility.

I do agree with an above comment that there's a serious level of utility and "comfort" with Star Lord because, for the longest time, he was the undisputed top champ in the game for virtually everything, especially LOL.
