**WINTER OF WOE - BONUS OBJECTIVE POINT**
As previously announced, the team will be distributing an additional point toward milestones to anyone who completed the Absorbing Man fight in the first step of the Winter of Woe.
This point will be distributed at a later time as it requires the team to pull and analyze data.
The timeline has not been set, but work has started.

There is currently an issue where some Alliances are are unable to find a match in Alliance Wars, or are receiving Byes without getting the benefits of the Win. We will be adjusting the Season Points of the Alliances that are affected within the coming weeks, and will be working to compensate them for their missed Per War rewards as well.
Additionally, we are working to address an issue where new Members of an Alliance are unable to place Defenders for the next War after joining. We are working to address this, but it will require a future update.

This shows poor thought and little to no care about the playerbase in any regard.
I'm not sure my feedback beyond the obvious would be constructive at the present time.
Aussies, NZ and similar..... timezones +12 - +8 are gunna be really affected badly
For
Me will be 3am-7am.
When dst is reversed will be 1am-5am
Thankfully that new matchmaking, using the top down method doesn't match you against overranked alliances.
It is not confusion it was wrong info given.
Plain and simple.
Two of our three battlegroups have members basically in Italy. The third is geographically dispersed about as widely as you can be without having people sign in from Pluto. Our biggest enemy in Alliance War just became the Kabam developers. They have done more to make it harder for us to fight in alliance war than our war opponents.
Did it not occur to Kabam in designing this system that you would be moving the start time of wars forward (earlier) in the day by an average of at least four hours?? The earliest offense could begin in the old system (and therefore, critically, end) was 2 pm EST. This is now the latest possible start time for war. For any alliance that looked for matches at more like 4 or 5 EST (which was peak matchmaking time, if I understand correctly), their offensive phases will be moved up by an average of four or five hours, more if it's a serious war alliance, since this system matches top alliances first. We always matched on the earlier side, but this is still a good five-hour shift away from our normal. And you're saying this is the way it will always be? People may have to quit over this.
Again, I fully understand the need for a new, updated system of matchmaking, but please, would the development team please consider moving the whole system back four hours, such that matchmaking begins at 3pm PST? This way offensive phases will start and end in between 2 and 6 EST, as most of them did under the old system. Alliances are built around this schedule and I see no downside for Kabam in this change, which is really less of a change. Please take this feedback seriously. I have a lot of friends in master alliances who are thinking the same thing.
@Kabam Lyra
Credit to alliances who manipulated AW matchmaking for bringing the community to this point
Agree totally.
All
My bgs are spread across america, asia, australia, africa, euope, england, we are very doverse as i have posted before and this is very very very very very very very bad.
Tempted to tell my members we will not be participating in season 8 wars
The announcement was ambiguous. It stated:
But the visual schedule implied that the attack phase was synchronized. The tie-breaking statement was this: https://forums.playcontestofchampions.com/en/discussion/comment/719082/#Comment_719082
And then the mods and the developers, who should have been monitoring this thread, watched us argue over whether identical start times was a good idea or not over several pages of posts and didn't correct us once.
Waitng for a reply.
They cant skate around this.
They have to gove a straight up answer.
Either they lied, or have no idea and just saying what they think is right.
At least my ally got a +89 opponent, so the matchmaking is totally fixed!
Tht would be the best thing . This game and this company cannot run a competitive mode properly
Also, based on what the new details of match making...there is a way to more easily manipulate match making.
Kabam, you need to match alliances to others in same tier. No way a master or platnium alliance would not run a full 3 bg every war
I agree, though the last time Kabam did this someone leaked all the information
I have always opposed such sentiments in the past. I believe there is a lot of merit to having the competitive mode in the game on principle. But I would rather turn AW season rewards into a lottery where every alliance enters and the rewards are given out randomly than see this match making system continue. And I also have no desire to see Kabam "incremental" this thing to death. The more I think about it, the more I think this is a design error worthy of being a case study on design errors.
For all the competitive pressures that Alliance War put on alliances, it was still the case that the problems associated with it were actual competition side effects, and you could argue that those side effects were worth the cost to actually have this kind of competition exist. But if the only way Kabam can make it work is to create a participation system in which the best suggestion anyone can come up with to manage the out-of-player-control schedule is "maybe just disband and reform with players that don't have the schedule conflicts" then I think AWS is detrimental to the game as a whole. Alliance war, and alliance war seasons in particular, is not worth more than actual alliances themselves.
This runs contrary to almost every game design principle I believe in, especially the one that says "something for everyone, not everything for someone" but I'd rather terminate the entire alliance war game mode than continue down the path of saying "well, if you don't like when it starts your alliance is just wrong." I don't say that lightly: I'm saying that knowing there are still lots of players that enjoy AW and AWS, and even players that would quit if that mode didn't exist anymore. I'm fully aware that in saying that, I am essentially advocating taking away someone else's fun. That's distasteful. But everyone has to draw the line somewhere, and this is where I draw mine. If I was in charge, and my choices were this system, or no system, I would pull the plug, immediately, and without reservation. I would hate that this is the choice my system engineers were giving me, but I'd do it all the same.
I don't understand whether Kabam reads what they type before posting. ALL wars start at the SAME time. Pretty simple to understand right? Well not for them. Managed to **** that up too
Removing every single link except the ones from the minibosses to the boss would help tremendously, since now every player on any schedule could complete their path unimpeded and even take out a miniboss if that's on their assignment. It wouldn't solve *all* of the problems (there are tiny catches involving who's awaken when at the end for the boss fight, for example), but it would resolve the most important ones related to map completion.
I'm not holding my breath because this:
says it is not broken until it breaks.
I really don't think they thought how this would truly affect the player base. IMO, they were so lazer focused on solving the issues with top allys fixing the matchmaking system that they didn't think of the consequences of their new system. We'll prolly have to eat the poop sandwich for season 8 before any hope of changes to come.
My war tomorrow is going to start about 5 hours earlier then we usually start. That's a full bar of energy. If everyone can move at the start we'll be fine but I'm envisioning being stuck on node 30 with a full bar of energy at like 6pm and not getting unlinked until the next morning like 10 hours later.
Because the top would make sure they never played each other just as they were doing before. Making war worse for every alliance in the game isn't a good solution though.
Funny thing is that we still have matchups with +84 war rating. And the same for us. 5 hours earlier than usual. With half people in Asian timezones and the other in US, it makes such a big difference because the ability to have Asians up before bed and US before work to make a run towards the boss is over. And with linked nodes in the middle, you're going to be sitting with full energy for a long time like you said.
At least start this war search 4 hours later then. If you're enlisting anyways, need not be awake for starting war. Then the fluctuation are at least close to the old period which people used to search in. Will definitely still be hard since war starts at a different time every day, but might make this more bearable
It is shown how disorganised this has been and how little kabam communicate within when they postnhere saying wars will start at same time, they create a pic showing start time, they say Matchmaking wont affect start time.
Now here we are with them
Saying yesnit does affect the start time, sorrynfor the confusion if we didnt explain it properly.
No you didnt you flat out gave is mis-information.
Watched us argue over how bad it was,
And then bam. Surprise.... its even worse than we thought.
I am beyond words as to how anyone thinks this change is a good chamge.
There will be alot of wars that get incompleted bgs now purely because of bad timing
In some cases war start times can start as much as 10 hours earlier than they are used to. This is not good for alliances that have built their membership to work with each members play times. Not all of us play the game 24x7 but can certainly finish any given war provided we are allowed to start a war that fits our individual schedule.
You guys needs to take into account time zones when implementing stuff like this. Given your current timing, it benefits very few. For those of you that are time zone challenged, I'll break it down.
Assuming attack phase starts at 7am PST which is the earliest any alliance can find a match.
PST 7am - these people are on their way to work or maybe sleeping
EST 10am - these people are working
GMT 3pm - again these people working
IST 8:30pm - works out for them
HKT 11pm - they can probably get 3 moves in
ACT 2am - they're asleep
I cannot see this change positively affecting anyone other than those that have 30 members that are constantly online and can move at a moments notice. What alliances have these types of members, the top 30 alliances.
