it increases special attack damage
is that only for sp1 and sp2 or does it also include sp3?

    Could just use Hyperion and spam sp3 massive damage

    Recoil is mostly a means to an end. It makes your war defenders bad, and it limits the specials you can use. You can't unlock suicides without it, so if you are going to run suicides you need recoil. But I would never just have recoil.
