Defeat Spider-Verse Champs - am I missing something?

As title says...

Have you just got to get lucky to face off against a spider-verse champ in arena?

Is there another way to guarantee it? I tried duels but that didn’t count towards.

Almost there, but it’s annoying going rows of fights without seeing any!

    I should say, I am not on about the one where you can get the 2* champ fighting 50 times.

    I mean the main objective.
