How to use DR. V?

I completed The champions challenge 1.4 and I popped the crystals. Pulled an Awakening gem and used it immediately on my 4* Voodoo. Is there any special way to play with him? And will he help in the Quest for Uncollected?

Yes definitely. So basically, he has two modes, with bro Daniel and without. I’ll just call it green and red since that’s the color of them. If it’s a poisonable buff heavy fight, L1 green all day. Power control fights, L2 green to control and burn his power for an attack boost. For evasion fights or stuff like Juggs or the Champion, switch to red on and you half their ability accuracy. His debuffs also last a lot longer in red, making evasion and autoblock fights even easier because your parry lasts an entire 5-hit combo. If it’s not evasion or autoblock, you can chain a 4 hit and 5 hit combo.

If it’s a long fight, do and L3 green and you will get a constant power gain for a good while, so you can cycle L1 and L2 to maximize control+damage, then shoot an L3 again to restart your power gain.

What I do in normal medium fights is build to green L2, green L1, L1 L2 and sort of play around with the power gained from MD of the expiring loas.

For the most part, you will be in green since it doubles your ability accuracy, but certain situations you want red. Watch your combo and get used to doing the right number of hits in a combo if you want to use a lower level special.

    Hope that helped :)

That was some pretty comprehensive advice; nice job! Keeping track of whether my current combo was even or odd when I launched my special made a big difference for me when I started learning to use my Doctor Voodoo, since it wasn't something I really did before. It really opens up his utility and lets you take full advantage of that awesome advice from @Hammerbro_64. I like that it also allows me to plan my approach to nodes like Masochism and Buffet too.

@Theo628 it’s the combo you currently have when you launch your special. If you tap the special button when it’s an even number, you will get green/bring or keep brother Daniel with you, increasing your ability accuracy and buff duration. If you tap the special button when your combo is odd, it will send brother Daniel to the opponent, halving their ability accuracy and increasing their debuff duration (the debuffs you apply last longer).

Hell, I don’t even know how to make it to even or odd. I just use an sp1 or sp2 and hope for the best haha

Watch your combo counter on the left below your health bar. For a typical short fight, I will do 5-hit combo, parry, 4hit combo (short of giving opponent his SP1), parry, then chain a 5hit with his SP1. Usually get somewhere between 3 and 6 poison charges before the opponent even drops their first special.

Even combos are the "green" mentioned above, and odd combos are the "red".

With DV you also need to learn who is poison immune (several common Cosmics, like Hype and Angela and the Marvel ladies).

I also use the Mystic Dispersion mastery with him (at least lvl 3), so when he burns the Loa charges you also get a huge boost in power. Against champs that have a lot of buffs like Groot or Oldman Logan, one "green" SP1 and you can jump straight to an SP3 and inflict a ton of poison stacks (personal record is 21).

He was my first 4/55 champ and he was my workhorse through this last Champion challenge.
