Any way to check if a player has been banned?

In our secondary alliance we have several new recruits that have been playing only a month or so. There are 3 that all became inactive around the same time. We have no reason to suspect that they were cheating, but it's odd that they all disappeared simultaneously so we're thinking they might have gotten hit with a ban. Is there any way to check a player's banned or not banned status in the game? Or do we just have to wait and see if they come back?
If they were cheaters... good riddance... but if not we don't want to kick potential good players if they are sick or on vacation for a couple days.

That would be the easiest way to check, and in our main alliance everyone is on LINE so we would just do that.
However, in our new 2nd alliance... most of the players there are noobs and not yet on LINE. So we've got no way to contact them.
I can see that they are inactive. They haven't logged in for 3 days now. What I can't see is if they are banned.
