Greetings Summoners,

For the past several months, our team has been hard at work working on a fix to a part of the game’s Damage Calculations. For the most part, this should be unnoticeable except in some very particular cases.

Like any change to the fundamentals of the game, we need to approach it with a lot of care.

This fix will only affect Damage numbers when a Champion receives damage while they have Negative Armor (for example, if they’re suffering from an Armor Break) and they have Positive or Negative Resistance. No other fights should be affected.

Here is a summary of what you can expect:

While Armor is Negative, Positive Resistance has less of an effect than before.
Put a different way; characters with positive resistance will take more damage now than before this change, while their Armor is negative. This affects Champions like Hulk and Hyperion, who have high Resistance stats.

While Armor is Negative, Negative Resistance has less of an effect than before.
Put differently, characters with negative resistance will take less damage now than before this change, while their Armor is negative. This one could make some Defenders tankier than before in some situations. This affects Champions like Symbiote Supreme and Venom the Duck.

While Armor is Negative, Crits and Penetration now ignore Positive Resistance, if the total Damage Reduction is also Positive.
Previously, while Armor was Negative, the calculation for Crit Penetration and Armor/Resistance Penetration was being skipped entirely. Now, Crits check Damage Reduction as a whole, rather than two separate components (Armor and Resistance). So as long as the total is positive, Crit Penetration will apply. This is the “Corvus Physical Resistance Bug” that we had to put on the back burner for so long.

How long have you been testing this?
This has been in the works for some time now and we’ve been testing extensively. We’ve also given this fix to members of the CCP to play with on the Beta Server and didn’t find any cases of egregious swings in difficulty. For the most part, this will be almost unnoticeable.

Once the Changes are out, will there be a chance for Feedback?
Absolutely! We’re not trying to change the game here, but fix a problem that’s been around for a while. If you find any cases that are egregiously difficult, or an interaction you think just doesn’t make sense, we want to hear about it!
