Alliance Wars Update: Kitty Pride/True Focus & Attacker Bans

Greetings Summoners,
As we’re sure many of you are already aware, there is an unintentionally powerful interaction between Kitty Pride’s Signature Ability and the True Focus Quest Node. In this case it’s specifically concerning because True Focus is on all of the Boss Island fights for Challenger and Expert Alliance War.
While we generally are in favour of powerful specific Champion/node interactions, in this case we feel that this interaction has the potential to trivialize many if not all boss fights in a war, and it also presents a serious balance concern for those attempting to compete without a Kitty of their own. In light of this we will be taking steps to remove this interaction for the next couple of Seasons of Alliance War.
We also suspect you have a ton of questions about Attacker Bans, and we’ll give you a little bit of a taste now, but we’re keeping a few of our cards close as we’re announcing this a little earlier than we’d intended. So we need to answer the last few questions for ourselves before we tell all, but here’s what we can tell you now:

What does “Removing this Interaction” Look like?
There are two major pieces to “the plan”:- We will be removing True Focus from Boss Island for Seasons 29 and 30
- Starting in Season 31 we will be introducing Attacker Bans into Alliance Wars for the upper brackets (Challenger and Expert)
We also suspect you have a ton of questions about Attacker Bans, and we’ll give you a little bit of a taste now, but we’re keeping a few of our cards close as we’re announcing this a little earlier than we’d intended. So we need to answer the last few questions for ourselves before we tell all, but here’s what we can tell you now:
- Bans will be limited to Alliance playing on the Challenger Map and above (The same as Defensive Tactics)
- Bans will only affect Attackers, so there will be no restrictions to Defender placement.
- Bans are selected per Battlegroup, and they will only affect the Battlegroup opposing you.
- We are still experimenting with the exact number of Bans available to each Battle Group, we plan to start fairly conservatively and go from there.
