New 5-Star Champion Addition and Changes to 5-Star Featured Hero Crystals

Hey Summoners!

The time has come for us to make a fairly significant change to the 5-Star Crystals, and to bring them more in line with the rest of the Hero Crystals in game.

First of all, it’s time for the next batch of Champions to be added to the 5-Star Hero Crystal. This time, we’re going to be adding 12 new Champions at once!

Spider-Man (Symbiote)
Venompool
Cyclops (Blue Team)
Gambit
Mordo
Loki
Captain America
Hulk
Black Panther (Civil War)
Elektra
Ultron
Rocket Raccoon

These new Champions will be available May 30th, after the scheduled server maintenance that starts at 8pm PDT. If you’d like to take a chance to get one of these new Champions, hold until then, but if you’d like to increase your chance at the Champions currently in the Crystals, get on it!

Next, we’re going to start adding a new batch of new Champions to the 5-Star Hero Crystal every month. We will be moving 6 Previously Featured 5-Star Champions to the standard 5-Star Hero Crystal each month starting in July. We will continue to add 6 previous featured 5-Star Champions each month until the backlog of Previously Featured Champions will have caught up. From this point forward, when a 3-Star or 4-Star Previously Featured Champion is added to the Premium Hero Crystal we will also be adding the 5-Star version to the 5-Star Hero Crystal.

The schedule for those will be listed in the next post down.

Finally, a major change to Featured 5-Star Crystals. Currently, a 5-Star Featured Hero Crystal has a chance of a Featured 5-Star Champion or one of the Base 5-Star Champions found in the regular 5-Star Hero Crystal. Starting with the Featured Hero being released on June 8th, we will be adding a chance to win a previously Featured 5-Star Champion that is not currently available in the Basic 5-Star Hero Crystal (for example, Red Hulk, Dr Voodoo or Iceman). The chance of winning the Featured 5-Star Champion will not be changed - Summoners will simply have a greater chance of winning a 5-Star Champion that is not in the regular 5-Star Hero Crystal (either the Featured Hero or a previously Featured Hero not yet in the 5-Star Hero Crystal).
So what does that mean? Well, imagine that there are now 3 pools of 5-Star Champions. The Basic Pool consists of all 5-Star Champions in the Crystal. The Featured Pool is just the current Featured Champion (for instance, Nebula). Then there is the 3rd pool (let’s call them sub featured) which consist of every Champion that has previously been featured (they’ve had their own 5-Star Crystal), but are not yet in the Basic 5-Star Crystal. After a featured Champion’s crystal is done, they are moved into the Sub-Featured Pool, and you have a chance of scoring them in a Featured Hero Crystal. After they are added to the Basic Pool, they are removed from that extra chance.

Q&A:

With the addition of new Champions to the 5-Star Crystal, and the new chance to score a previously featured Champion from the Featured Crystal, will our chances to win the Featured Champion be affected?

Nope! You’ll still have the same chance to score the Featured Champion as you did before! You just will have a greater chance of winning the Featured or recently featured 5-Star Hero.

So, what happens to the additional pool of Champions when you’ve caught up with the new releases?

Then we’ll start to add the New Champions to the Sub Featured pool, and remove them when they are added to the basic 5-Star Hero Crystal. This will happen about 110 days after the hero is featured. (e.g. Currently - a new hero released in crystal -> 110 days later it is added to the 4-Star Hero Crystal and PHC. Once we are caught up with 5-Stars, the hero will be added to the 5-Star Hero Crystal on the same day.)

Why aren’t Dr Strange, Black Widow, etc., on the list of Champions to be added?

We don’t currently have plans to release some of our previously released Champions as 5-Star variations.
