Ægon combo synergy not working

Since the most recent update, Ægon’s synergy with proxima/starlord which grants a combo shield for 5 seconds on the first hit taken, is not working. Unfortunately, I cannot upload a video at this time, but I have tried it several times, in several different quests and each time the synergy doesn’t work
