Lost in current monthly quest

Help! Everyone keeps saying that it is easy to clear the My little symbiote quest using the summoned symbiote.
How do I make mine more powerful to be able to clear the event? He’s just rank 3
I’ve gone through normal mode once & fully completed heroic. I haven’t touched beginner & I am half way through master.

Keep going. Master is required to get him r4, epic is required for r5

But are you reliant to clear master using the symb? I haven’t used him once.
