Question about featured crystals

If you have only 10k shards and decide to open a reg crystal does that mean that only champs not in the featured crystals are available to get or is it just a higher probability of getting a specific from the featured? Thanks in advance

if you look at the crystal it is champs that have been added to the basic in the basic crystal normally once a month last one being ghost the featured will have champs that are newer and may have only been recently added or not yet added.
