The Sentry’s problem
I’ve been going around low end heroic finishing my 4* shard grabs with “sub optimal” versions of potentially awesome champions.
My first stop was the Sentry. He’s a complex balance of charges, combos, and stances that are all unnecessary to the limitations provided.
Simple issues that if slightly toned down would be monumentus.
1. Stance shortness. 10 hits and you reset? That means you get 1 special per stance and 5 heavies to enjoy that! The fact that only THOSE moves get stances is also a little annoying.
2. Light attack and Mediums don’t have a stance. Like if they got a bonus during his neutral starting stance he’d be one of the higher end burst champs depending how you used him
3. Lack of control. Yeah he’s a very demanding champion. Taskmaster at lease benefits in a monster Sp1 or Sp2 and AAR by being demanding of the user.
4. No utility. Even the highest end attackers in raw damage have utility. The only exception is Star Lord on the condition that you don’t count his elemental gun nor his abuse of stupid high attack as utility. However, Hyperion, CAIW, Medusa, Taskmaster, Hela, Hiemdall, Corvus… all have utility even if all Hela does is have a devastating Sp3 in LOL and Synergize with Loki.
5. Unequal stance length. The Heavy stance can stay 24/7 for all I care. It can reach a mile away, does a surprising amount of damage for such an overall bad Champion, and is FUN to use kinda like Archangel or Quake. But I feel like the Sp1 and Sp2 stances can be “once this special is used we go to the next one”
How I would fix him?
Unyielding Fortitude:
Give his basic attacks about 2/3 the attack increase as all the other stances. Increase it to 15 hits to change
Overpowering Light:
Lasts until Sp1 is used. Bonus effect of adding 10% duration and potency to Fury activated by Sp1 for each persistent charge
Steadfast approach:
Lasts for 20 hits. Overall I like this one
Absolute Strength:
Ends on Sp2 useage, overall I like this one. Upgrades Sp2 effect to armor shatter.
Relatively simple by adding an extra “intermediate” phase between the specials means he’s easier to use, his utility still sucks but as a general mixed attacker he’s not the worst thing I’ve ever tried to fix. The potential is there it’s just finding that balance
