When it's the time for focusing on ranking up a 2/35 instead of a 4/40?

I've thrown some Polla here asking wether i should rank up a specific 4* or a 5*...
Most answers were 4*.
But It always intrigued me why... Since 5* has a lot more room to grow.
I've been dealing with this issue for quite a long time and i've notice it's a recurrent question in this forum.

    1) Act 5 can be completed with 4* 5/50's (esp if awakened)
    2) Resource cost differential (and availability)
    3) Probability of duplication and actually getting to fully use a champ (4* awakening gems are scarce, 5* are very rare)

    Always rank a good 5* over a similar 4*, but depending on where you are in the game, some 4*s may help you more. I just ranked Void to 5/50 for LOL x23 but he's the 1st 4* I've ranked in ages and probably won't rank another unless I pull Wolverine. But I also have 29 5/50s and hardly use them anymore.

    All 5* are worth R2, if only for the T4B arena.

    There are probably a dozen or so 4* that will still wreck content and work great until you pull (and maybe dupe) the 5* equivalent.

    It really just depends on the Champ, and whether they're Awakened. Some people swear off 4* Champs altogether, but at the 2/35 stage, it's really not going to be more useful than the 4* counterpart. Especially when their Sig needs to be double to be equal. I Rank both when I can. It's just a matter of what Resources I have on hand and who I want to Rank next. I have never, and never will, stop Ranking any Rarity.

    I mean I think the REAL choice comes when you have to choose between a 3/45 5* or a 5/50 4*... t4cc ain't easy to get at this sort of stage tbh... but yeah 4/40 and 5/50 4*s generally take just that little bit less to rank up than 2/35 and 3/45 5*s. And they're about the same power level. And they're easier to dupe...
    But yeah focusing on 5*s is fairly end-game stuff...

    Thanks a lot guys... All your inputs helped a lot. The case is, i have a 4/40 sig52 GP, a 4/40 KM and a 2/35 WS on the line, since ive just got the 3rd t4cc...
    I already have 4 5/50 (Hype, Iceman, IMIW and GR) and was struglin with this matter for quite a while
