My champs are not locked White in AQ/AW.

Am I supposed to be able to use my champs in all AQ, AW and quests at the same time?
My top 3 champs were in AQ and when I had to chose my team for AW, they were available. Then, I went to do Stark assignment and they were still available.
Correct me if Im wrong, but arent they supposed to be locked? The leader of my alliance told me that it's not supposed to be like that.
Sometimes they're locked but most of the time, they're not.
I dont want to get banned because of a bug. Ive spent a lot of money on this game and dont want to lose everything.

But is it the same for AW? The champs I have placed in are available for quests.
