Immunity node in AW

Immunity node in alliance war states that the node buffs the champ on it as follows..."Immune to Debuff effects".
I am not sure how this node works exactly becasue a champ like Hawkeye who drains power with is special attack one does not drain power on this node. Hawkeye's special attack is not a debuff effect according to my information and should be draining power on this node? Is this a bug or am I just not understanding the mechanics of this node?
