Venom the Duck - Storing Buffs

I wanted to see if anyone can clarify specifically how Venom the Duck stores additional buffs when activating a special or heavy attack. I understand the overall mechanic, but one particular detail/scenario is mainly what I want clarity on.
Consider this scenario:
You enter a fight with 6 persistent charges (ie 6 existing buffs). Let’s say there are 3 regens, 1 attack, 1 power gain, 1 armor up. When you start the fight all 6 of these are active, so when you throw a special/heavy attack which of the active buffs will be stored? Since there is a per fight limit of 3, will it choose three of the active buffs at random, or is it based on the order the appear on the fight screen?
Another example, I had 3 regens and 2 attacks (so 5 total). I was hoping to add more attack buffs, but when I used a special it instead stored 3 additional regens, so then I would have 6 regens and still 2 attack. Is there any way to control which buffs you store?

So when I wanna be selective, I’ll wait for individual buffs to store instead of post match start or sp3.
